Excessive focus on self image is a byproduct of our materialistic society. No amount of toy banning is going to change that. It's too ingrained atm into our society. Let's face it beauty sells, ugly doesn't. It's unfortunate, but that's our society. Not anything that should be legislated though.

Oh yeah like WV has nothing more important that should be a focus. A real shame. I guess the 24 year old teacher found with a 15 year old student in a motel room was Barbie's fault too? Along with domestic violence, spouse abuse, sex offenders and the like. This is something Sheila HTS should be able to get behind.

The country is coming unglued and this fool has nothing else to do with his political time and career than focus on children's toys? This is why there is such waste in government. We pay salaries to people who seem to have nothing important to do.

Who voted this yahoo into office. Should we explain to him what Freedom of Speech is or all other Constitutional rights. He should be arrested for trying to supress Matel's Constituation rights and sued the kids in West Virgina. .....and someone should explain to him how to STOP wasting Tax Payers money on such crap. Why do you think the Gov should be involved in this decision. Start your own goup against Barbie's but don't use my tax money and your Government position to try to place weight on your own personal vendettas. Impeach this man.

In a state that has had employment problems
since the 70's. That's has really had no influx

It is not just WV attempting pass laws such as these. In Mississippi, they tried passing house bill 282, which would have prevented restaurants from serving people the state deemed as obese.

At least the Barbie Bill and MS House Bill 282 could be considered a part of free and universal health care. Which, everybody seems to want more of these days.

Domestic abuse? What a joke, legislation regarding domestic abuse has been stretched to the point where david letterman gets a restraining order put against him because a viewer felt threatened by the subliminal "messeges" being sent to her across state lines over a television set.

A state judge granted a temporary restraining order to Colleen Nestler, who alleged in a request filed last Thursday that Letterman has forced her to go bankrupt and caused her "mental cruelty" and "sleep deprivation" since May 1994.
