Why can i not be a soul looking for enlightenment? If I am to give my life and soul to Jesus and God should I not be allowed to view all inforamtion concerning him. I think that would be the best way to make an informed decision.

Try explaining what you believe without explaining or defining what I believe and you might have more success. I am a Catholic. Gene, great post, how many try to defend there faith by attacking others. Instead of really trying to understand where others are coming from they yell at others.

what part of I was raised catholic do you not understand? Look it was your religion that said it was the only true church. You want to get mad when people start telling you why it's not then blame the Pope for printing such lies. Jesus was a Jew. If God wanted the world to be Catholic he would have semt his son to a catholic family. He would not have said his chosen people were the Jews. And he would have told the world that the catholics could hide information about him if they wanted too. If all these hidden documents really support the catholic claim to the one true church they would be out and about about it. They have no problem claiming to be the one true church but have a problem showing the people proof that they are the one true church. That makes absolutely no sense. More than likely those hidden documents don't say that. But hey somebody call the Pope and ask him what they say. I bet he won't tell you because those documents were considered heresy. How are they heresy if they support the PCC claim? and don't get mad at me it was a Catholic that posted that the catholics hid the info., said it was the catholics that called it heresy. I do look for enlightenment. I have not and probably will never find in the RCC. Too many secrets, and lies. And you still never said anything about the decorations of the catholic churches around the world. And what about the idols. Also in this forum you have talked about marriage and have clearly stated that the Bible's view on marriage and the canon law on it are different. Bottom line you cannot talk in circles and not expect at least one person to catch on.

According to the Gospel of Luke, "In patience you shall possess your soul" (Lk. 21:19). The prize of true love awaits those that are truly free, because they are the only ones capable of giving and receiving.

I think you need to actually read the document - NOT the news reports or other people's comments. I think that's what we ALL should do - with any of these Vatican statements - especially if they sound confusing or the media makes them sound divisive like this. Truly - if you say the Creed each Sunday at Mass, then you agree with what the Pope has stated - that there is one true Church, that it was instituted by Christ. All that he is saying is that the Catholic Church has maintained an unbroken line of what is called "apostolic succession" from the time of the first Pope - Saint Peter - until today - that the same Church that Christ established has never failed, until today. That all the other Christian communities have good things - but they are offshoots of this "one true Church" that Christ established" - and most of them over the last little bit of time, actually.
This is the most important statement - Notice the last paragraph - Pope Benedict is not saying that Christ is not present in the other faith communities - but is emphasizing that they are NOT in full communion with the Catholic Church - and that for various reasons they are incomplete. And you have to admit the Protestant communities are - they have set aside the Sacraments. They do not have a valid Eucharist. If you, as a Catholic, do not see the immense value of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist... then I'm not really sure what we're talking about.

The Roman church does not allow that as you and I have already experienced this cultist religion in the past. That is why they are not in Christ.
