Or not.Yes, and let's abolish all religious institutions and religious gatherings too.
Should IN GOD WE TRUST be removed from our money?

Comparing private organizations with government is a poor analogy. It's not the same thing and you know it. |

1 Where has this nation's morality gone in the past 50 years? Hmmm... We've gone from general acceptance of Jim Crow laws to a general acknowledgement that racial discrimination is unacceptable. We're also more inclined to accept and encourage women who make career choices that fifty years ago were considered the exclusive province of men. Even today, when the Religious Right holds such sway over our politics, we're generally much more tolerant of religious diversity than we were fifty years ago. We're also much less inclined to believe that what goes on in the privacy of other people's bedrooms is our (or the government's) business than we were fifty years ago. So, all in all, I'd say that our nation's morality has vastly improved over the past fifty years. I certainly wouldn't want to try to return to your idealized version of the 1950s, even if such an endeavor were possible. |

Oh, and what do you people have against the ACLU, anyway? The ACLU will steadfastly defend your right to wet your bed, so lighten up! You know you want to. |

1 I should add one thing: when you say that the motto "In God wi trust" is added to our money "to remind us of our roots," are you advocating, perhaps, bringing us back to the days of the Salem Witch Trials? You are aware, are you not, that the U.S. Constitution contains no references to God, Jesus or Christianity? This is the only document that matters when one is trying to interpret what the laws of the United States means. The Declaration of Independence contains a deistic reference to "the Creator", but guess what? The Declaration of Independence isn't important at all! The purpose of the Declaration of Independence was simply to encourage France to ally itself with the American colonists, particularly since the colonists needed the help of a strong navy to vie with the British navy. America didn't become independent from Great Britain until January 14, 1784, when the Congress of the Confederation approved the Treaty of Paris, thus ending the Revoultionary War in America. God didn't have anything to do with this. |

1 Yes. SepAration. Ban religion outright. Imprison anyone who practices it. Imprison anyone for participating in religious gatherings. Ban and burn all Bibles. Outlaw anything having to do with religion. Wear a cross around your neck - go to jail. Utter a religious word, like "Jesus" - go to jail. No more religion period. It's ruining the country and the world. |

There's a bloody big difference between keeping government and religion separate and enjoining government to ban religion. You're creating a straw man. |

1 It wouldn't matter if 100% of the U.S. population was Christian. Government is in no way supposed to endorse religion. BTW, Christianity comprises about 76% of the population and it is dropping. Islam is the world's fastest growing religion. I have a sneaking suspicion that you would never accept Allah on your coins. |
|
Proof positive that you only want YOUR religion represented on currency. |
|
|
Absolutely.
E Pluribus Unum should be put back on coins. Also "under God" should be removed from the pledge (it wasn't there until 1954). The government whould stay out of the religion business. |
