What is the point of having that slogan on our currency? It is a praise to a specific "god" from a government that supports freedom of religion. WTF?

Seriously though. What is the point of having "In god we trust" on our money? Can somebody give me a valid reason? I can't think of one and I'd really like to know.

Ditto. Dump it. Our government is supposed to be secular.

The outraged Christians will no doubt show up on this thread. Of course, they would never support "In Allah we trust" on our money, so their comments will no doubt be hypocritical.

I'm not sure what was on our money originally, but I know God wasn't anywhere on it. I do remember a humorous sign at a bar I visited many years ago; "In god we trust; all others pay cash." Actually, I think more than one bar had that sign up. lol

Yes, and while were on the subject of dumping, dump the "under god" from the pledge. That was added on for no good reason too.

I was in a bar once that had a sign by the cash reister that read, "Helen Waite is our credit manager. If you want credit here, go to Helen Waite."

Money has nothing to do with God. Pretty hypocritical. Unless its pass the hat time at church.

I wonder how many people asked where they could find Helen.

Yes! We should replace "In God we trust" with "Federal endorsment of a deity or religion violates the United States Constitution," space allowing, on our paper money and coins. If space doesn't allow, as is the case with most of our coins, we can simply omit the motto altogether.

None of our coins bore this motto before the Coinage Act of 1864. Did the inclusion of "In God we trust" on our coins really do anything to improve our morality?

Well said. And to answer your question: No.

Considering the teachings of Christ Himself, I don't think God cares what we put on our money.

If there is a God why would he want to be associated with something as mundane as money?

Perhaps not, but it was there to remind us of our roots. However, I will yield to the Madalyn Murray O'Hairs and her pinko, bedwetting ACLU buddies and lets just do away with all religion in this country. And while we're at it, let's take down all the crosses from our National Cemetaries that honor our fallen soldiers.

Just think about it for a sec, where has this nations morality gone in the past 50 years?
