Afghan troop surge 'must wait'

The Pentagon is unable to send additional combat brigades to Afghanistan this year because of constraints imposed by the war in Iraq, leaving the decision to the next president, a spokesperson said.

A surge in Afghanistan would be rather pointless. Unlike Iraq, where George W Bush won a brilliant victory, this is "the mother of all quagmires".
Ask the 19th century British Empire or the 20th century Soviet Union.
Afghanistan and the tribal regions of Pakistan are where no one wins.
