What wonderful news!!!!! 17 beautiful children and we hope you have more. We saw your picture on the internet and WOW what a great family!!!! This is what our country needs more of... beautiful loving families like yours. Don't let the jealous vindictive jerks ruin it for you. Have a fantastic life and keep making those terrific kids!!!

Come on. After the 10th it must be like dropping a pencil down a mineshaft.

How rude! Just like a choice to bare arms, people have the right to chose when they feel they have fulfilled their family size. They're are not hurting you, nor anyone else. They are providing for themselves without the use of the system, so you have no right to make such an awful statement.
I say Congratulations to the Dugger family! Way to go! Takes a special family, that's for sure!

Actually, I don't want to pay to send them to school, or any of the other resources that these kids will consume.

They are not on welfare or asking for handouts from other people, so I don't feel we have the right to tell them they can or cannot have more children. I will say that when families get this large, I think it is very selfish and not healthy for the older children. I've seen their show on discovery health, and I just think how unfortunate that the older kids basically have be mini-parents to care for the younger children Michelle can't seem to stop having. I have no ill will towards their family, and the do seem like a nice family on the surface (I only say that because I don't know them personally, everyone is different on TV)...I just think it's unfortunate to expect your older children to be parents in a sense to younger siblings.

Now, after watching their 'reasoning' for having so many kids--I think they are absurd and not extremely intelligent--but I know that's just my opinion....

Oh well, now I just make the family pick with me, and it drives them crazy. Sorry about Jimmie last week, that was insane. I am glad he is okay. Maybe he can turn things around this week? He has done well at Pocono in the past! Good to hear from ya friend. keep in touch!(even if it is here on this thread!) Have a super weekend!

"Jim Bob Dugger," well, shoot far, that jus''bout says it ALL, don't it, Hoss? And all the young 'uns having the same first initial (and one named, "Jinger," yet)? Why do I get the feeling these people have black velvet Elvis pictures around the house?

Seriously - I'm sorry, but I just cannot feel like having so many kids is a wise decision, if for NO other reason, this womans' health! Being pregnant 10 1/2 years of her life is more than likely placing a burden on not only her reproductive system, but her other organs as well. And we won't even talk about the cost of raising all those kids, whether or not the parents are being assisted by others.

I thought twice at a year and a half was too much. lol but that is their prerogative. They do live in the US. I do agree with the other poster about the kids having to take on to many rolls as surrogate parents sorta speak. I have a neighbor that has 6 children and I do see the same issues in their family. Children to need time to just be children, without having to be responsible for a sibling, but it seems to work for them, so who are we to judge? We can have our opinions, but we shouldn't condemn others for their choices!

I'd say when you have to start giving your kids names like "Jinger," it's time to stop!

The children are homeschooled, and the family is debt-free. They paid for their house before they moved in. They believe in debt free life, very liberating.
