Why do blacks name their children ridiculous names???

Shinaqua, A'Quariur, Dasunia, Shaquedra, Omarion... why do they choose these awful names???

because its better than naming your kid apple or some other kind of inanimate object =)

I grew up with a girl named shadeeq'quah.A terrible story is my sisters mother-in-law was a nurse in the maternity ward when the woman(black) told her "excuse me but whats that word over there".She replied "you mean that its urine"."Urine(pronou nced it ureen),thats a pretty name".This woman read the capheter bag and976 wrote urine on the birth certificate of her baby girl,there is going to be one angry child who will resent their mother for writting that and wind up changing their name.

I know most of you all haven't experienced to musch becuz if u should know most of those names that you all are calling stupid really come from the roots of "Africa" everybody's homeland including u dogs. Most blacks refuse to use their surname, which is basically the right thing to do.

Of course you can name your children anything you choose. However, the awful names being given to black boys and girls just sound stupid and most everyone makes fun of the family and the child behind their backs. And I'm not just referring to white people laughing, everyone laughs. This odd name thing pushes blacks further from acceptance in American culture. You folks will simply never get it.

As a Black woman, I am not a fan of some of the "eeka" "eisha" "quan" names that have been given out in certain segments of our community. But at the end of the day it is simply not my business. Just as it is not my business when some whites name their children Topper, Apple, Hunter, Chip, and other names that I dont particularly care for.

There will be alot of things in life that you wont like or understand but if it doesn't pertain to you then why should you care?

ive know some white people that i thought have given their kids a strange name.
but,

I wanted to know if there was some historical or political reasons why predominantly black parents name their children bizarre sounding names that are difficult to pronoune. I was just curious and most ppl are too conservative to ask such a potentially controversial question. I think it's a legitimate querry. HOWEVER what is not legitimate and downright evil is making fun of someone's race.

No but really, such names really hurt a child's chances at success in life. A name can say a lot or it can say nothing. Stick with nothing. "nothing" being any traditional name in the English language. Its not "white", it's adapted to civilized society-rest of the world aside from asia uses European or derivativives of European names. Only a small contingent of blacks in the US use unique names. Rednecks make up plenty names too, thats no better IMO
