LOL Douglas, thanks for the image. Last time I checked in my shorts, the package wouldn't qualify me for the convent. Jeesh!
Hope that doesn't take any shine off the fender. I've enjoyed the exchange of thought as well.

Sumerian traditions claim to go back what? 40,000 years?
The Bible goes back to the dawn of creation.
How can anyone verify the accuracy of dating and the influence of one tradition to the other?
It's all speculation for now.
One proving factor for the veracity of truth may be found in which writing survives as the most dominant extant version of truth.
God would ensure the sustenance of the real text.

By the way, don't forget where Abraham drifted south from. Who really won the coin toss to get the ball first?

1pilot is right. As christians this is not our world but simply a vale of tears to be endured until we are set free. It is why you find so many brave martyrs in Christianity. It is the blood of martyrs that spreads the seeds of Christianity.
Actually, I would call that "Stupidity". God doesn't want us to die for him, that is why he supposedly sent his son..to die for us.
Why is it...throughout all religious beliefs, one must "DIE" to believe?
The entire belief system wreaks of a carnivorous religion.
Predating Christianity, the tribal people would participate in a ritual after a leader was killed.
They would gather around the tribal fires and mutilate the dead leader and eat of his flesh and drink his blood, expecting to take on his strengths, attributes and leadership qualities.
This trickled down to the Judaic Religion which is a very young religion in contrast to others that predate it.
Many of the customs that are strewn throughout the old testament as well as the new testament, can be found in much older belief systems i.e.,
"Virgin Birth" (Isis, Osirus, Horus) Egyptian Mysteries
"God Killing (Crucifixion) Odin (Norse Religions)
"Creation of Earth" - Enuma Elish (Mesopotamian)
"Creation of Mankind" - Enuma Elish (Mesopotamian)

So you guys that believe you have firsthand knowledge and the upper hand on "RELIGION" need to do your own research...and stop keeping your ducks in one basket because our world scene is getting ready to open season on "Idly Sitting Ducks", so I would strongly suggest you take heed to one of the most profound verses in the Christian Belief system that is known to man...

John 8:32

There may be a relation of the double helix to the Hippocratic medical/pharmaceutical staff of intertwined double snakes.
DNA is the structure of life, medicine is the curative or salvation for the ill.
Here is a possible origin of those symbols relating to curative powers, or salvation.
"and the LORD said to Moses, "Make a saraph(snake) and mount it on a pole, and if anyone who has been bitten looks at it, he will recover."
Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he recovered." Numbers 21:8,9
As the proto-type prophecy for:
"And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life." John 3:14,15
Can there be no doubt that the Jews are God's chosen....they so cleverly hid from Gentiles, and their defiant counterparts, the mysteries to prevent the word of God from being corrupted by Pauline Christianity.

Quite the contrary. By the arrival of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, the Jews had corrupted the faith enough to have their status redistributed to the nations.
Paul just explained it in his gospel, that's all.

Gal 3:7-14

Realize that it is those who have faith
who are children of Abraham.
Scripture, which saw in advance that God
would justify the Gentiles by faith,
foretold the good news to Abraham, saying,
Through you shall all the nations be blessed.
Consequently, those who have faith are blessed
along with Abraham who had faith.
For all who depend on works of the law are under a curse;
for it is written, Cursed be everyone
who does not persevere in doing all the things
written in the book of the law.
And that no one is justified before God by the law is clear,
for the one who is righteous by faith will live.
But the law does not depend on faith;
rather, the one who does these things will live by them.
Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us,
for it is written, Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree,
that the blessing of Abraham might be extended
to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus,
so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Gal 3:22-29

Scripture confined all things under the power of sin,
that through faith in Jesus Christ
the promise might be given to those who believe.

Before faith came, we were held in custody under law,
confined for the faith that was to be revealed.
Consequently, the law was our disciplinarian for Christ,
that we might be justified by faith.
But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a disciplinarian.
For through faith you are all children of God in Christ Jesus.
For all of you who were baptized into Christ
have clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek,
there is neither slave nor free person,
there is not male and female;
for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants,
heirs according to the promise

Gal 5:18-25

If you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are obvious:
immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry,
sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy,
outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness,
dissensions, factions, occasions of envy,
drinking bouts, orgies, and the like.
I warn you, as I warned you before,
that those who do such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, generosity,
faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law.
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their flesh
with its passions and desires.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit.

With all of this fear junk in the world, I must restate the idea that we all need to know how to get out. The hurricane aftermath is a proven fact of this. I did not feel like helping the people that were just laying and dying. I cheared the people that got up and walked if they had to.
The hurricane was just a flood of sewege, consider something worse. think about prolonged exposure. How about an asteroid hit. If you don't get up and leave you die. Please figure an exit plan beyond your house.

We have to assume we aren't the center.
If a near planet killing thing is happening what do you do?
I say stay off of the main roads becuase they will clog immediatly. paths are better ways out they take longer but move. Find an underground place to make it through and buy weapons that you can tool yourself.(bows swords crossbows black powder)

Is god an alien? It's a lot more plausible than him being an effeminate carpenter.

If it were a meteorite I would like to see if I could catch it. Samething for a nuclear missle, depending upon how close to ground zero I am. If I am far enough to have a plausible chance to get far enough away to survive the impact. Backroads to Canada will be bazing with tire tread from my Saturn pretty durn quick.

He is NOT an alien. If someone says man made up religion, this is the real manmade crap: human myths about aliens leading to diefication of ET.
God created not only humans, but all life and all creation. Not Only that, God created the LAWS OF THE UNIVERSE which do not change and govern all the worlds, from the ultra microscopic sub atomic to the galactic.
There is a single Creator of all this. And we in english recognize Him as God. In spanish, Dios, French, Deiu.
so who or what created god?

According to some buffs 2012 will see the passing of nibru in our solar system, they say this will cas catastrophic effects for the whole planet, floods, earthquakes etc. There would be much escaping it if thats true. Some people liken the story of the great flood to the passing of this planet some 30,000 years ago.

I agree we all need cross bows lol. and water bombs yeahhhhh!

WHAT?
When's the last time you met an effeminate carpenter?
Say something like that around most construction sites and you'll get Nailed with a 32oz. Framing Hammer! Jeesh!
