I'm not sure what you mean by "set me up". I am not a preacher. I am interested in how you view US politics and "western values" and maybe we can discuss religion if you like.

Are you a devout muslim?

Not trying to set you up at all.

very little. I loved Lawrence of Arabia. I believe that sincere muslims are deeply honorable people who are famous for their hospitality to guests and the humane way they treat prisoners in warfare. I think you love your coffee and do not drink alcohol or eat pork. I think you are strong proponents of feminine modesty. And a few more general ideas about extreme muslim views on a number of social issues. But that is about it.
i like your method to atrract your foes, and convince them , but d'ont think i am so naive....

So what you are saying is that there are no seat reservations in the basket for your children?
The basket, like the virtual peanuts, like your myth: not real. Embrace reality and critical thought. Teach those adts that destroyed a little girl a lesson. Come to the light of reason.

you live in Oran? It is a beautiful city. Do you think that the US, along with the other powerful western countries have to squash fundamentalist Islam because Islam is at odds with secular western values and the two cannot coexist peacefully in a global economy?
What about fundamentalist Christianity?

I love you for keeping the ridiculousness going. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is too good.
You shouldnエt have. You are too generous. This is rich, and I love it.
You little adorable fine-haired little fetus you.(hic)
From page 80 of 'Why Evolution is True' by Jerry Coyne:

One of my favorite cases of embryological evidence for evolution is the furry human fetus. We are famously known as "naked apes" because, unlike other primates, we don't have a thick coat of hair. But in fact for one brief period we do--as embryos. Around sixth months after conception, we become completely covered with a fine, downy coat of hair called lanugo. Lanugo is usually shed about a month before birth, when it's replaced by the more sparsely distributed hair with which we're born.(Premature infants, however, are sometimes born with lanugo, which soon falls off.) Now, there's no need for a human embryo to have a transitory coat of hair. After all, it's a cozy 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit in the womb. Lanugo can be explained only as a remnant of our primate ancestry: fetal monkeys also develop a coat of hair at about the same stage of development. Their hair, however, doesn't fall out, but hangs on to become the adult coat. And, like humans, fetal whales also have lanugo, a remnant of when their ancestors lived on land.

BTW, the dirty Christer fundie appeal to emotion using my children as leverage is not only childish, but shows just to what ugly lengths fundies will go to try to convert people to a religion evil enough to promote such dirty tricks.
I'm not a child, nor am I a stupid adult. I see the trickery used by fundies, and detest the religion that would allow and even encourage them to use such tacktics. Thank you -- all of you fundies--for helping me see every time you post that I made the right decsion to walk away.
Got any more stories about houses on fire?
Here is a trick question. Nah, when you have reality and reason on your side, there is no reason to resort to trickery. Kudos on the proper use of Dirty Christer Appeal to Emotion. Those words do have a magical ring to them.

So you are saying that your children are deluded?
My children have the God fantasy, and I helped them have it by taking them to church at a young age.

I knew you were going to use my children. I don't mind. It just shows the true evil of the religion I helped teach my children. Now all I can do is tell them what I have learned and let them decide for themselves which way they want to go.

Gut I can tell you this, they are not like you, Manny. They don't try to keep others from speaking their thoughts. They don't use others children or family as threats of eternal separation. They are intelligent enough to know that scare tactics are not the way to make any but the weak minded believe. The will, UPON REQUEST, tell you why they are a Christian. They don't bully, threaten, use stupid analogies or any of the other fundie tactics.

In other words, they are Christians but not Christer fundies like you.

This person will try to convert you to christianity with his stories and analogies.

Now, if you're here as a sock puppet so this preson can 'save you' and convert you, that won't work either. We've seen it all.

None of the non-Christians here are that naive. Manny isn't fooling anyone but himself.

And I'm very much afraid I smell a christer fundie rat here.

I've been catching up and finally something that has made me smile and laugh. " Hello my name is Manny and I was born the bastard child of Ken Hayam and Ray Comfort" - said at many Fundies Anonymous meetings....Hahahahahahahahaha ....this is why despite himself, BBJ is, after all, the flip side of the "christer". He an evangelist for the road most traveled. A Preacher for those that want to take the broad and easy path. But at least, i think - anyway, he knows that when I compare him to e coli and anchovies it is not meant maliciously or as an insult but as a back handed compliment.
Did you mean "epiphany" where you wrote "efficacy"?
No, but I can see my rant wasn't clear. The efficacy of the seed I planted. There is an occasional poster here who once called himself blackbwoy. He was ham handed in his articulation, but he was right about one thing. He called this a "word interaction website". Now, of course, it is we who are interacting, not the words, but the gist of his message is that none of these posts are to be taken seriously.

Of course, the path of reason and reality is not the broad and easy path, nor is your god delusion the road less travelled. You once wrote about the argument from popularity, so that certainly could not be the road less travelled. Manny, you are starting with the conclusion that goddidit. That is certainly the easy way out. If I am accountable as you say, no matter my beliefs, wouldn't strong Atheism, or even anti-Theism, be the path of most resistance? Think about it. A Pascallian declaration from the Church of Allstate would be the easy way out.

Oh, I think modern western secularism is at odds with all sorts of fundamentalist views including fundamentalist, traditional and orthodox christianity and orthodox judaism. There is a clash coming between freedom of religion and "civil rights". For instance, how long will the federal government permit religious institutions "discriminate" against homosexuals? Something will have to give and it won't be pretty.

Good people, trying to follow their belief with kindness and the peace the fundies can only claim.

I have no problem with people being Christian. I have learned a great many things in life from them. I have learend that some actually try to love others, be tolerant and let their God take care of the rest. I have learned that there are some I would not want to be left alone with, too.

As long as there is no preaching AT me witht he egoistic judgment that only the person talking is correct and has all the universal answers, I'm good.

Does David Horton distinguish between "christers" and christians?
I don't know. To the best of my knowledge, Christer is my sobriquet, born right here in WINLAC to describe not Christians but those who engage in all manner of PRATT (previously refuted a trillion times), lame Apologetics, lies, admonishments, threats of fire and brimstone, and denials of basic Science and Reason.

Manny, I think we are becoming friends. A tear is developing in my left, anterior nasalacrimal duct. I may be converting you from a Christer to a Christian. The world will thank me. Haha.

yeah..there ya go...very liberal minded of you...assume the worst despite any evidence to the contrary...leap, head long and giddy to the least honorable motives in others even when discussing the most mundane and ordinary matters. is it an inflexible rule of this forum that short digressions of personal interest are not allowed or countenanced by the supreme council of the grand inquisitorial high command? the strict letter of the topical law must be enforced without deviation or the pharisees will see to it that punishment will be swift and severe...lol

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
