I think Topix needs to be left alone. If you do not like coming here don't. Go find something that is more to your liking.

It depends on what topix wants this site to be. The way it's structured now, It deters a lot of logical minded individuals. I hate sifting through pages and pages of racism and pure partisan blindness just to find the very few good posts.

I left this site a while ago because I disliked reading the hatred and bigotry.

If this site wants to be a forum of partisan bashing, then leave it the way it is.

the way i see it the moderators should take some responsibility for purging the topics and posters that arn't abiding by the terms of use.

we all want freedom of opinion, but abuse and obscenity are not opinions.

Is this some kind of joke? Shut down for what?

Why is it that we can have threads catering to pedophiles, escort services, and moms "dating" their sons for months, and now that we have a new administration, posts and threads are being deleted left and right?

Did that happen when Bush was in office? No, it didn't.

Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. If we were able to tolerated loads of crap before, we can still do it now. Don't like it, leave.

That is what makes Topix the best forum on the internet...freedom of speech. Ignore what you don't like, or stay out of the controversial topics.

maybe you need to read the terms of service before you spout off.

there's no place for obscene postings or abusive posters here...
this is a forum for debating opinions, thats all.

this is not a public forum ,it's owned by someone who can decide the terms of which you appear on here.

I'm not saying that anyone should be abusive. I'm saying that after the hatred toward the Bush administration, I find it humorous that there is a sudden urge to regulate everything. I find it hypocritical.

Last time that I checked, this was the United states of America. If someone owns a forum, they must understand the importance of freedom, and the exchange of ideas.

What I am hearing a lot lately, is that if someone doesn't agree, they automatically start spouting off about so called abuse, trolls, and reporting people to the FBI.

We have turned into a nation of babies.

i know from your former postings that you are a reasonable and top qualtiy poster....and i understand that the left wants to muzzle our freedom of speech to critisize their policys.
i don't want that freedom of "opinion" to be taken away either.
but i think we can mistake freedom of speech with freedom of opinion.

we DON'T have an absolute freedom of speech anywhere, nor should we...
you can't allow people to be allowed to;.. slander ...threaten....harrass ...abuse...boundrys must be established if you want to live in a civilized country.
freedom is an illusion anyway...we are only MORE free in America, than anywhere else.....and thats fine, lets just keep them.

certainly we are more super sensitive to offence now than we were awhile back...we are looking to be offended at every turn..
..thats where political correctness started...in an effort to not hurt peoples feelings.
....we DO need to develope a thick set of skin against all the barbs hurled at us in life though ,and topix is definitely NOT for the thin skinned.

I agree that conversation can get out of hand when someone is passionate about a topic, but most of us know that, and understand that getting roughed up is part of the game. No need to take it personally. I don't mind getting beaten up a little, if the person has a point.

As far as the real trolls go...best to have a little fun with them, and then ignore, if need be. The more the merrier. As a matter of fact, some of the so-called trolls are actually quite funny. I pity people who take things too seriously, and want them banned.

Most of us have been on here a very long time, and we enjoy a good spar. It is all in the name of fun. Those who like a sedate forum should probably stick to non controversial topics.

Thank you for your kind words. Even if we don't all agree, all of the time...I must admit that most people here are reasonable and fun.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Cancer

Take it easy today, or the most insignificant things will get you down in no time. A difficult letter in the post, or a tricky conversation with a loved one, will sink your spirits down to your ankles. Ugh. Life is not as tough as it seems right now, so keep reminding yourself that we can choose to feel better. A bar of delicious chocolate, or a tasty savoury snack might help a little, too...
