I don't have a problem with it but I do think YOU have a problem.

The moms that I know who breastfeed are very indiscreet. Most of the time I'm unaware that the child is nursing. It seems to me that some people are making a mountain out of a mole hill. And, yes, I nursed all of my children and my daughters and daughters-in-law are nursing their children.

I think a lot of men have a problem with it because they are jelaous of the little baby.

I think it's disrespectful to the public. I went out to a nice restaurant for lunch last year and a woman was breastfeeding at the next table. I was disgusted. She was at least 45 and she made no attempt to hide what she was doing. She should have known better. And of course I didn't say anything because I have manners. If it ever happens again I think I will speak up. No one wants to see that, I don't care how "natural" it is.

Good grief, it's the most natural thing in the world! Geez, you overly conservative people are just that, a bit over the edge. I suppose if you could invent a way for a newborn to come into the world clothed you would. Get a grip, don't think the breast a a sexual organ or tool only, and you wont have that problem. View it as a bottle, a baby has to eat. Would you rather hear a screaming hungry infant? Doubtful! I agree that if you can be discreet it's best, but even if not, choose your battles. Oh, and it is by no means the same as having a bowel movement of changing your sanitary needs. That is a ridiculous analogy.

In my case if there was any jealousy it would be for the bonding that is taking place. I think if the woman feels comfortable she should do it wherever she needs to. JMHO

No, it's not wrong or indecent for a woman to let her baby nurse at her breast in public. This is one of the most natural things to occure. When did it become indecent for a woman to let a child nurse in public? Most women use a blanket to keep from exposing themselves. Leave the women alone. What's the matter with you? That is why women have breast for, to feed the baby. Even if she didn't cover up, there was nothing disgusting about it. Also, if you had kept your nose in your own plate you wouldn't have known any thing about it. I have heard of people telling women off for this and telling them to go to the restroom to let the baby nurse. If you people think that anyone should eat in the restroom, take your plate of steak and potatoes to the restroom and eat. Then you don't have to look at it. It's about time you people told everyone where to stick this political

Who are you calling a moron, jacka$$! Did I say anything was wrong with breastfeeding fool. I said in this day and age, which meant there are PERVERTS who try and twist things, and with so many camera phones around, whose to say that suddenly the the normal act of breastfeeding wouldn't turn into a website of breastfeeding babies. When I go to a restaurant, and I'm talking a restaurant not some fast food joint, that sort of behavior is not wanted or tolerated. The same goes to you and your family Bill. I'm afraid that 2008 is going to be one for the record book and not always good.
I still have a few things in the fire and have been told that I will hear something early Jan. It will not be with those esteemed gentlemen but there are others with a little less exposure.
I expect that there will be a problem closer to home before July. everything bends with the wind here. Stay healthy, that's half the battle!!

I'm sorry that happened, Vettegirl. I can understand why you'd be upset. Respecting others along with good manners are always appropriate. May I suggest that when you find yourself in this situation to reply with something like this: "Excuse me, please. I'm feeling uncomfortable. Would you be so kind as to cover appropriately as you nurse your baby?" It's just a thought. This way, the focus is on your feelings and, as you already pointed out, manners.

Ha Ha!! I totally agree!! I'm looking forward to the day when we can have child free restaurants. When you are spending $50 for lunch the last thing you want to see is some woman trying to show off cause she managed to procreate. Most of us women can do it ladies, but that doesn't give us the right to expose ourselves in public. Have a little respect.
