Does the govt. have anything to do with those wages being the way they are set ? Does government involvement in the market have anything to do with the price of goods and services ? Will Americans accept higher prices ? They have answered that question with the monsterous growth of imported products from China, China, etc,. One reason wages are artificially low is that the power of the unions has largely been busted, resulting in a loss of real income for American families since the early 70s.(Clinton years provided a leveling off, but real wages/income have continued on their downward cost). Of course government plays a role in managing markets--at every level. Americans will accept small levels of inflation, but nothing like the rates of the 70s; this is the reason the fed keeps the dollar very weak and interest rates so low.

At this time it is the influx of illegal aliens who are coming here with no health check and no criminal background check and utilize all our social services and demand rights that they are not legally entitled to. Occasionally I go to church. Now you have my resume' do I sound fearful or do I sound like a concerned citizen of the United States who is fed up with illegal aliens and with our government who has allowed the situation to get this bad? I've been voicing my thoughts and research facts on the matter for almost four years and plan to continue to try to make my voice heard. By the way, I am a Southern White lady and I fly an American flag. You sound like a terrific person with lots going on in your life. I take it you worked in textiles?

Go to church and do normal stuff? Yes to all of the above. And I try to help friends who are now out of work as the roofing, flooring and concrete businesses in Marietta Georgia area are now almost excusively manned by illegal aliens. In addition to the things I do, there are things I have stopped doing. I have also stopped donating to MUST Ministries and Catholic Charities for local aid, as the recepients are now overwhelmingly illegal aliens. I still give to world charities that aid the poor within third world countries, but can't bear seeing everything on a local level going to people that have no respect for our laws.

(And these are just the gang bangers and child molesters)
Feds snare 2,100 illegal immigrants June 15, 2006 BY ANDREW RYAN BOSTON -- A swarm of immigration agents sped silently, headlights off, down a Boston side street early Wednesday and surrounded an apartment house. ''Police! Policia! Police!'' yelled Daniel Monico, a deportation officer, holding his badge to a window where someone had pulled back the curtain.''Open the door!'' Moments later, agents led a dazed-looking Jose Ferreira Da Silva, 35, out in handcuffs. The Brazilian had been arrested in 2002 and deported, but he had slipped back into the United States. He now faces up to 20 years in prison. In a blitz that began May 26, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested nearly 2,100 illegal immigrants across the country. Officials said the raids are aimed at child molesters, gang members and other violent criminals, as well as people like Da Silva who sneaked back into the country after a judge threw them out. The crackdown is called Operation Return to Sender. ''This sends a message,'' said Monico.''When we deport you, we're serious.'' The operation has caught more than 140 immigrants with convictions for sexual offenses against children; 367 known gang members, including street soldiers in the deadly Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, and about 640 people who had already been deported once, immigration officials said. The numbers include more than 720 arrests in California alone. AP

Americans will accept small levels of inflation, but nothing like the rates of the 70s; this is the reason the fed keeps the dollar very weak and interest rates so low. You are getting close to working on all 8 cylinders now. Government mandates on all aspects of business whether it be manufacturing, wholesale, retail, service, food, hardlines, softlines, etc, have forced the price of goods and services greater than they warrant. All business have been forced to streamline and reduce costs in order to produce a profit and stay viable. This is the reason that many companies have sought cheaper labor pools whether it be moving their business off shore or paying under the table to illegals. Import goods not so long ago had the stigma of being cheap with extremely poor quality. Things have changed. Imported products now are extremely well made and the prices are still low in respect to the American produced products which for the most part are of lesser quality. Those same American workers still employed will shop at Wal-mart for cheaper goods which are overwhelmingly imported from China. The labor unions served a purpose when children were working along with their parents in sweat shop conditions. Unions today are worthless and are self serving identities in that they are more concerned about perpetuating the unions than turning out quality products whether it be automobiles or educated children in the school systems. American mentality is that they think they can have it all and life just doesn't work that way. There are going to be some tough times in the future for Americans unless ........

Huge cargo planes are landing hour after hour from China and similiar nations totally packed with import goods. Very little checks and balances as far as whats on the transport planes. We can thank Bill and Hillary Clinton for that airport and the way it is managed with very little U.S. Government oversight. The planes do not "deadhead" back to nations of origin. It's not dollar for dollar exchange either. I just read an article (I think it was in the Chattanooga News Free Press) that a bill had just passed to stop selling our airports to foreign countries.

Harris Is At It Again

Well the Harris campaign has done it again. They staged a Democrat political rally disguised as a flag day ceremony. One of the most sacred days in this country's history is used and marred by the selfish desires of the Harris campaign to once again attempt to gain votes and favor in the community, only to be shown once again that the public is tired of their immoral games. This was a slap in the face to every veteran and service member in the United States and abroad. Harris claims to be a veteran and uses this as a political ploy for votes, yet he does something like this and pisses on the graves of true veterans and service members. The attendance was less than 20 and most of them were the Democratic candidates. Nice strategy, let's invite the public, offer free food and drink, disguise it as a patriotic gala and slip in some political begging for votes. Once again the Harris campaign has showed its desperation and deceitfulness in order to gain political favor. Caldwell County will never vote in the last administration after what they did to this county and the sorry state that they and Harris left Caldwell County and Granite Falls in will ensure that Sheriff Clark will win by a landslide.

Twinkie, this is indirectly related to illegal immigration so you'll have to forgive me for this circle. Illegals send money back in huge amounts to country of origin. There is a huge import/export imbalance which is favoring the exporting nations. The single biggest nation that benefits is China. Canada benefits greatly as does Mexico (illegal immigration) due to their oil exports to the U.S. What are those nations to do with all those billions of greenbacks ? They have been financing our national debt by buying our treasury bills. They still have billions. We print money like crazy and the dollar continues to lose value against other world currencys. Those nations will have to have opportunities to invest those American dollars other than our debt or the rule of unintended consequences kicks in. They send quality goods (also cheap labor) to us and we give them soft paper. They want the right to purchase businesses, ports, airports, etc, etc,(something hard with value that is not depreciating daily) and if the avenue is shut, what are they to do ? If they stop buying our debt we as a nation will think the illegal immigration problem is minute.

Gosh Twinkie, some people seem to be all over and an authority on every city and goings on in each of those cities, it's amazing that the planes fly that fast, or maybe there is a time machine or something, wow. Anyway, this is about illegals coming here, the wealthy idiots who hire they to further their own greed, and our very corrupt President and other politicians that are selling our country down the river. Maybe if the wealthy had to walk a mile in our mocassins their attitudes would change. I think most decent, honest, HARD WORKING folks who have to earn a living to support their families agree, this invasion needs to stop, deportation, and nothing less, I am tired of inflated insurance costs, hearing that I have to press a button to hear English in this country, it's past ime for our laws to be enforced, and the majority of people in this country want these illegals deported. NO AMENYSTY, NO WORK PROGRAMS, DEPORT, DEPORT, DEPORT.

I don't need to learn anything from you of all people. You are a conceited jerk, who thinks he knows it all, and you know, you don't. I was speaking to Twikie and you need to mind your own business, which you apparently don't know how to do. You care nothing about the average hard working man and woman, because you don't have to work hard, you get the illegals to do it for you. I hear there is a bus leaving from Greensboro to Mexico and they have a couple of seats left, maybe you can get a free ride.

I don't think taking away the few protections workers and communities have currently is the answer. What you seem to be suggesting is a return to the 19th century social order. No thanks.

The Spanish speaking requirement doesn't apply because I speak enough of several languages to communicate. If I were to start today with the education and knowledge I have acquired,(and at a much younger age) I shouldn't have any problem getting a job. Unfortunately, not all Americans can say that. Because they are Americans and live in the United States of America, Speaking Spanish should not be one of the requirements for them to get a job. No, I don't know everything but I know enough to get by.
