Most reports put him at about 1.3 million. He's in the bottom third of government officials.

Perhaps the most publicized aspect of Romney-care is its mandate that every resident have health insurance, whether provided by an employer or the government or purchased individually. "I like mandates," Romney said during a debate in New Hampshire. "The mandate works." But did it? Such a mandate was, of course, a significant infringement on individual choice and liberty. As the Congressional Budget Office noted, the mandate was "unprecedented," and represented the first time that a state has required that an individual, simply because they live in a state and for no other reason, must purchase a specific government- designated product. It was also a failure.

So it isn't true that this 'mandate' sets a precedence. Most things we do are because of a Government Mandate. for instance, The age you MUST start school and the age you can quit. Automobile Insurance. drivers license, are mandated & you must keep them current, or not drive YOUR car.. Our government can and has, enacted a Draft to the Armed Forces. You are mandated to pay taxes and fines, within the frame of time that the government 'agrees' to. Certain vaccinations, that are mandated! The age of which you can vote...

Yes that's true, but the elephant in the room is that Romney won't disclose his worth 'at all', and when he does, it doesn't contain all of it..This very year he has the nerve to take a Tax extension, even after telling us he has several bookkeepers! Well, well, either he has something to hide or he should fire his accountants for not filing on time.. I doubt it's their fault. Romney is the one setting a precedent by not disclosing, all other candidates including the President have declared theirs..Nobody cares what he's worth, but we do care who we're electing, and he's turned out to be a sneaky little liar, already hiding money in several foreign countries...What about USA? He IS the top 1%, so that makes him a Job Creator wonder how many jobs he's created this year? Please keep in mind the 1%er are the ones like Romney, and are not job creators, rather jet setters.. Of course if the Millionaires Tax would have passed it would have affected not only him but most of the Congressmen. No wonder it didn't pass! Both Romney and Ryan's Budget will raise taxes on the middle class and poor but lower taxes on the rich. The middle class vote is extreemly desireable, because it is the largest age goup that votes, Explains why ole Romney's been all over them. Not because he cares, shoot he has nothing in his past to prove he cares, just for their vote!

The point was not that a mandate itself was unprecedented but the the requirement that all people must have insurance by law. That is what was unprecedented.
