I purchased a TMX Elmo from David Hopkins. I paid him on October 22, 2006. He promised to ship my purchase on November 1, 2006 or if he could not, he would issue a full refund for my purchase. I have contacted David via email several times and via phone several times. At one time, the person who answered said she was his mother. She said she would pass along the message that I had called. I have called two other times and left messages on their voice mail. I have not received any reply on email or telephone. I insisted on my money back and yet, no reply.

I called him also about 3 times and got to talk to him but he told me to get off his back and blamed it on some person that was working with him and run off with the money and Elmos. But he didnt mention that the first time...he mentioned it the 3rd time I called him.

I also purchased ELMO TMX from David Hopkins thru Ebay on October 16, 2006 and paid him the same day thru PayPal. I have sent him several emails. He responded one time after I registered a complaint thru PayPal and he said he would track package and if lost would issue a refund. I have not heard from him since. I don't have his phone number otherwise I would try to call him.

Jane,Sharon...if you get a chance go into Davids feedback and send a message to the other ebay members that have had problems with David and ask them to join in the forum the more the better.I sent them 2 messages but they might be a little hesitate to go into the web-site.Eventually all this info will go to ebay, paypal, and even the local authorities in Pennslavania where David resides. We have to keep people like this off of ebay.If we keep the pressure ebay will terminate him from ebay and paypal even if he tries to subscibe with a differant I.D.

I also purchased ELMO TMX from David Hopkins thru ebay on October 16, 2006. I sent my money the same day and it was received. I have sent him several e-mails and he responded to 2. One to tell me that my Elmo would be shipped on Friday, October 20 and the other to call me a lier (I put a mark against him after not receiving my Elmo for 2 weeks after he said it was shipped). I have tried numerous times since to correspond with him, with no response. One of the other individuals that puchased an Elmo saw my negative mark and told me David said his assistant took the dolls and the money. If this is true, why doesn't he say the truth and reimburse us. I have put a dispute in and hope to get my money back for the holidays.

Well it seems that David sent everyone an email yesterday informing them that he will refund everyone very soon.I hope for the buyers who didnt pay with paypal that he is telling the truth.Having been scammed twice this year I dont believe anyone until I see the money. We had a Justin Anderson who scammed about 30 of us and he use an excuse about his mother dying in a car crash when we called the local authority in his small town they told us it was not true.Thats how desperate some of these people are.So lets keep our fingers crossed.Im going to send David and email today with this web-site url..now that we have comments in this forum so he can see that we will take legal action if the doesnt come thru.

I haven't received anything from him regarding a refund. How long does it normally take paypal to reimburse us?

They will give him the chance to prove us wrong. When you put in a claim paypal request that you explthe circumstances then they give him 7 days to reply (which he hasnt)because all replies and comments would be emailed to you.In all it should take less then 30 days.

I bought a ELMO from him on Oct 16th and haven't received anything. I emailed him several times and called his house, the person who answered said she was his mother and would give him the message. I am on the email he sent saying he would refund the money but I doubt he will. One of other people he sold too said he told her his partner stole the ELMO's and his money. I filed a claim through Paypal and it's supposed to be decided on 11/15. Hopefully I'll get my money back.

Nellie...unfortunate it is....and the vunerable ones are the ones with perfect feedback. For some reason they think we are not going to do anything, but they are wrong. Its important that everyone abides by paypal policy especialy if you are selling.I just lost out on a rare film 8mm of The Beatles At Sea Stadium.First time I mailed International to Italy and the buyer had 97% feedback but not a confirm address. She wanted me to send her the film the cheapest mailing there was which was letter post...that travels via "SHIP" which could take 4-6 weeks. She never got it and I lost out on the film and $200.00 dollars.I truly belive I was set up because if the film would have gotten lost they would have at least sent it back to sender.

Remember paypal only lets you have 3 claims a year...this would be by 3rd one So anything I buy now I have to make sure that a confirmation number is involved so if paypal does not pay I can take legal action. And since Ive used my 3 claims I will not buy anything International.

You want to hear something amazing....In the Justin Anderson case that I had mention before he mailed out 30 packages with tracking confirmation numbers but the addresses he sent them to were unreadable and the return address he put was from sone factory out of state.Paypal was not going to refund anybody because he had a tracking number showing that he mailed the packages. One of the buyers that was in on the forum lived in a small town and had a niece that worked at the post office. She gave her niece the Tracking # and she was able to grab her 2 packages before they were sent back and there was nothing in the boxes. It was only becaus of the Forum that paypal had no choice but to refund our money. At this moment he is under investigation with the USPS and PAYPAL.

All, I was notified today that Paypal decided in my favor against David and they say they have recovered my money and I should see the refund in 5 days on my credit card. At least now I can use the money to buy my daughter something else for Christmas. She would have like the Elmo but I don't want to risk it again this year since they are so hard to get right now.

I have purchased from ebay in the past and will never do it again.

Twice I received merchandise that was not exactly the way it was said to be. Fortunately they were fairly cheap items.

Only once did my purchase satisfy me, this was for a Nintendo playstation years ago if you can imagine that.

The last thing I purchases was 2 brand new dvd's. Never got them, my calls were never returned, so on so forth.
I don't take the chance anymore, even using paypal.

That's a little extreme isn't it. I've purchased many items and never had one problem. Is it fair to blame Ebay for your string of bad luck?

Ebay NEVER helped to get my money returned to me when the guy never sent my dvd's and wouldn't return phone calls. I don't think it's extreme. If I owned a company and one of my "employees" was cheating a customer, I'd handle it. Plain and simple. I would not want that sort of bad business running under the umbrella of my name.
Call it extreme,I don't care. I'd rather buy first hand now.
