My wife thinks I called her a liar, and I say I just thought she was incorrect. What do you think...

We were going to make spaghetti o's and meatballs for dinner last night. My wife opened the cans, and there were no meatballs in them. She was upset because she said she paid extra for the meatballs. I told her I thought they were the same price for no meatballs. She got a little upset, and told me that she knew for a Fact that they cost more. I told her I believe they cost the same, but I'll see when I go to the store. She then looked up the prices, and found them sold in bulk. The meatball brand cost more, but different stores were selling them so I still wanted to see at the store. She got upset, and told me that I'm calling her a liar, because she said she knew for a fact. She thinks that because she said she knew for a fact that if she was wrong she'd be telling a lie, so I pretty much called her a liar. I told her I didn't think she was a liar, I just thought she was wrong. Opinions please...

I forgot to add that I found out I was wrong, but I wasn't calling her a liar.

If you thought she was a liar, that means you believe that she said something with the intention to deceive. From what you say, this was not the case, you just thought she was mistaken and that she believed something that you thought was incorrect. That is how I would try to explain it.
