Go you truckers the heartbeat of America. My employment requires driving a van constantly as I do service work. I am able to continue making A profit as my billing will compensate for any increases. The trucker is bound by the cheapest price the middle man will pay Supply and demand.
100% behind you guys.

I'm an O/O, one truck, haul jet and avgas to mid size and smaller airports. If I shut down, it's not going to make a difference to the places I go, they'll just get someone else to haul it. In three days, when I call for dispatch, the company I'm leased to could say goodbye. I've been there for a long time, I make good money, they pay a good sufficient surcharge, why would I want to jeopardize that? Those who are working where it's bad, leave. If you're not getting paid enough, leave and go somewhere you will! Eventually the scum companies will not have anyone to work for them.

By the way, most jet fuel to major airports is plumbed underground. Notice how there's always a few oil terminals near a major airport? O'Hare gets about 4.3 million gallons a day.

I support anyone who decides to strike, but I have a position to protect.

Drive safe, J.

My father is an o/o and so i know the struggles of fuel prices. He has to make a decision on a regular basis to pay bills or buy fuel. Ofcoarse the fuel wins out 9 times out of 10 because he will not be able to make the bills next week if there is no fuel in the truck. I completely support the strike but I also know if it spreads nation wide, we will all suffer. I, myself am a server. if the drivers go on strike for an extended period of time and don't deliver the food to the restaurant, I am out of a job as well. I know on my Father's end of things, he can't afford to shut down. He does not have security of knowing who he is leased to will still need him when it is all said and done. I guess in the end it goes both ways for my family. Either way it goes, we will feel the affects of it.

Professional drivers are asking American Citizens to participate with us in the "National Shut-Down"

This is an issue effecting all of us and we MUST take a stand NOW. Our government IS a major contributing factor in the outrageous price of fuel, and the struggle American citizens are experiencing making ends meet. We must take this action to get their attention. All other avenues has only fallen on deaf ears - our government is ignoring the will, and needs, of the American people.

In The Last Year
(63,000 Jobs Lost)
(2 Million American Citizens Lose Their Homes)
(28 Million American Citizens Projected To Be On Food Stamp Programs)

Our government officials are eating good dinners, are living in beautiful homes, are driving brand new vehicles and are collecting large salaries...on the American Citizen's dollar. It's time to take our country back.

STAND UP, SPEAK OUT OR GO BROKE!!!

We are non-truckers, but behind each and every trucker strike or shut down. You guys call the days we don't drive not only that we won't spend any money anywhere. No Pain No Gain. We love each and every one of you Owner/Operators. Good Luck. Don't care how organized this is, we are with you today. It was on the National News, (Fox News) so word is getting out.

wake up buddy! dont say three days is not enough. it is. think of stalled production lines, insurance claims for perishable goods, lack of high turnover goods on chain store shelves and so on. then more people in different industries at this point will want to give a hoot when they hear truckers talking of diesel prices.

The word must not have gotten as far as some people thought. I just came through Smiths Grove, KY at Interstate 65. The Travel Center truckstop is still booming, and there are trucks going north and south.

I had posted this at http://www.indeed.com/forum/job/truck-driver/...
Remember this, this shut down might not be the shut down we would like to see. We learn from mistakes and those that do not make mistakes do not do much. April the 1st and linked to April Fools probably hurt the most and lack of planning also. But we have now established communication which is something the government fears. Why does the news media require a FCC license when a newspaper does not?
We could choose a better day in the near future as we know dang well the oil companies are not done screwing us yet!
Might we try for Thursday July 3rd to start, the 4th as it falls upon a Friday and the weekend makes for 4 days. How many drivers get the 4th off? Along weekend with family? Sounds a bit better and link it to higher fuel prices we might get a bit more reception by the public! A idea yep a idea, what do you think?
Response so far?
Deltona Trucker
If we can get everyone to agree to your date (I'll go along) we need to start putting it out there. Every one of us needs to email the news stations at least weekly letting them know our situation and what date we will strike. We need to get on road dog and any other resource we can think of. I think the 4th of July is good because we all know how the prices magically go up at that time of year.

Count my trucks in for July. Mine are sitting now but will sit again in July if it all goes together.

Idon't know where you have been that you don't know that diesel is $4.oo + a gallon. Maybe you should go to the gas station and look at the price for your self.

Your keyboard has a caps lock key on it. When you press it, it makes your letters lower case. It is on the left side of your keyboard, 2 keys up from the control key. Use it, if your brain can allow you to follow these simple English instructions.

Ah never mind juan. He is just another clown that needs the government..our taxes.. to make a living
he apparently cant afford to buy his own equipment
and when he sees the realities of life he will be screaming. And I might even hire him to shovel poop.
Remember he is more than likley a blowout for being out of business since he cant get a truck on his own credit.Just another looser welfare case.I wonder if his truck came with a 6 month supply of cheese. And you know his family still eats off of a wic card LMAO...looser.

Aren't o/o's independent business owners? If that is true then don't you set your own rates? If yes, then who's fault is it that you are drowning in debt? Why go on strike when you are to blame for your own problems - simple solution don't accept cheap freight - quote high and accept nothing less. The shipper must then raise their rates which will be absorbed by all consumers not just by the truck driver. Oh, and one last suggestion - get spell check - with all the typo's and grammatical errors you look like the sterotypical "uneducated truck driver"

One way to help the trucking industry is to watch expenses. Do everything you can to increase fuel mileage - do not idle unnecessarioy and do not run more than 60 - 65 mph for starters. Simple and it works to put more money in your pocket. But more importantly DO NOT take any loads that do not pay enough to cover costs. Bottom line - higher paying loads and conservation of fuel will keep us all in business. A shutdown will not work. Write to your legislators to get fuel charges.
