It makes sense that some lesbians might be less concerned with adhering to "traditional" gender roles because they aren't trying to attract men. Women in general are less critical of apearance when choosing a mate, so it is logical to say a lesbian might be attracted to a "butch" looking lesbian, or tomboy because she likes that look on a woman, or simply that the potential partner is beautiful in her eyes, regardless of the length of her hair or the tag on her clothing. Androgyny can be very sexy on a man or a woman and some people are just simply attracted to things that others aren't.

I absolutely think your choice is less relevant than mine. The following is just one reason why.
However, my point was denominations that are changing their historic roots and belief to accept gays are ALL dying denominations. Not a single one is growing.
The primary reason there are so many denominations is the same reason there are so many different restaurants. We all have different tastes in spiritual food too. Some emphasis a particular doctrine more than another does, just like some cook with more or less garlic, etc.
I also think that God is larger than our ability to comprehend. One denomination displays one facet of who God is, while another displays another facet.
Most often, very few of those emphasis' are in conflict. But as one favorite theologian of mine said,
"Here, again in short, Christianity got over the difficulty of combining furious opposites, by keeping them both, and keeping them both furious."

That brings us to the UCC. A denomination that has forsaken it's roots. Exactly why Jesus spoke of new wine and old wine skins. Or using UCC terminology, they are putting comma's where God put a period.
