Major General Smedley Darlington Butler was in the U.S. Marine Corps and, at the time of his death, the most decorated Marine in U.S. history. Here are his observations:

"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers.

In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914.
I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in.
I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street.
I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912.
I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916.
I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903.
In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested.

Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."

You're very disrespectful, and I don't appreciate your comment.

Our soldiers can't pick and choose their missions, but one thing is for sure...they sacrifice their lives for the safety of Americans...and I won't tolerate your ignorance.

Don't hate the soldier...hate the politician.

And considering that you don't live in the US...it's none of your business.

Bravo! Caffeinated, Bravo! I am glad to see that other people see O for whaat he is--a loud mouth lout and a Taliban and AlQuaeda sympathizer. For him to even show up on one of these threads is a disrespect to our men and women who have died for freedom.

Vets and active duty Soldiers, We appreciate the Job that you have done and are currently doing. For you information, today I called my Senators to put pressure on the President to get off his ass and stop dragging his feet--and get men and equipment you need to win this war in the Middle East. I, also, urged him to help get the restraints off you people so you can fight the way you have been trained. I, too, know what it is to have restraints so you can't do your job.

Thank you, but I need to clarify that I am not a Veteran. Just a loyal American who understands what they go through. I wouldn't have the courage to do their job, and that is why I have the utmost respect for them.

I was a supporter of the war at one point, but feel that it's time to come home. We can't change a culture. We need to give our guys a break and bring them home.

I'd rather see their efforts at home, on our borders.

I didn't fabricate what I posted, Caffeinated. Those are solely the words of wisdom from Major General Smedley Darlington Butler who was in the U.S. Marine Corps and, at the time of his death, "the most decorated Marine in U.S. history.

During his 34 years of Marine Corps service, Butler was awarded numerous medals for heroism including the Marine Corps Brevet Medal and the Medal of Honor twice. Notably, he is one of only 19 people to be twice awarded the Medal of Honor, and one of only three to be awarded a Marine Corps Brevet Medal and a Medal of Honor, and the only person to be awarded a Marine Corps Brevet Medal and a Medal of Honor for two different actions.

In addition to his military career, Smedley Butler was noted for his outspoken anti-interventionist views, and his book War is a Racket. His book was one of the first works describing the workings of the military-industrial complex and after retiring from service, he became a popular speaker at meetings organized by veterans, pacifists and church groups in the 1930s."

I'm not an al Qaeda sympathizer, Ghost Rider. Most of its members are agent provocateurs directed by the CIA, the Saudi and Pakistani secret services and Mossad.

Interestingly, a news article from today states that "Although the war in Afghanistan began as a response to al-Qaeda terrorism, there are perhaps fewer than 100 members of the group left in the country, according to a senior U.S. military intelligence official in Kabul who spoke on the condition of anonymity."

Today is quite suitable to sit back and use your common sense, Caffeinated. My post above merely consists of a quote from Major General Smedley Darlington Butler who realized that "War is a racket:

...It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small "inside" group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.

In the World War [I] a mere handful garnered the profits of the conflict. At least 21,000 new millionaires and billionaires were made in the United States during the World War. That many admitted their huge blood gains in their income tax returns. How many other war millionaires falsified their tax returns no one knows.

How many of these war millionaires shouldered a rifle? How many of them dug a trench? How many of them knew what it meant to go hungry in a rat-infested dug-out? How many of them spent sleepless, frightened nights, ducking shells and shrapnel and machine gun bullets? How many of them parried a bayonet thrust of an enemy? How many of them were wounded or killed in battle?

Out of war nations acquire additional territory, if they are victorious. They just take it. This newly acquired territory promptly is exploited by the few – the selfsame few who wrung dollars out of blood in the war. The general public shoulders the bill.

And what is this bill?

This bill renders a horrible accounting. Newly placed gravestones. Mangled bodies. Shattered minds. Broken hearts and homes. Economic instability. Depression and all its attendant miseries. Back-breaking taxation for generations and generations.

For a great many years, as a soldier, I had a suspicion that war was a racket; not until I retired to civil life did I fully realize it. Now that I see the international war clouds gathering, as they are today, I must face it and speak out."

You are the spawn of Satan. Your Momma had sex with the Devil when she was drunk and stoned. She had you and has always regretted it. You lack a soul and you will die a painful death and burn in hell for eternity. That's where I am being punished for my sins. You are next.

Actually , i'd even pointed briefly to some back awhile back but they can't take the truth! I talked about protection of USD hegemony and its dirty bloodly-laden oil sancity, along with the immoral US leaders acidic interventinist/expansionintic nation building had been getting US into deep trouble around the world. If we keep on following the warmongering neocons ' precepts of expansion and with over 736 US military bases around the globe will only get us into deeper trouble and that is reason we are seeing all these growth of terreristic activities . Our US immoral overexpansion of nation building by invading Middle East , Africa, LAtin America ... will be our downfall. As we keep on nation building around the globe by invading countries for their raw/resources... and will provoke some country (s) to even drop the USD as the reserve, And, we all are seeing the US dollar de-vaulation because of our greed, soon they will even drop USD as the reserve. and, this had provoked several countries talking about dropping the USD as a reserve And, reason we have 736 US military bases because we want to protect USD hegemony and so we tied it to oil sancity is one way to protect our US economic/geo-political sphere influence around the globe that had been getting us into deep trouble around the world because as our corrupteed leaders US invade/intervene other country(s) for it resources, meaning using mostly hard power( to take illegally by use of military force - an imperialistic Bully!)it will be downfall. And, reason we see all these world enemy(s) and growth terristic activity because we don't heed to warning signs overextending capatalistic endevors, the Greed and power will be US downfall. Our US leaders don't really care about the world as long they fill their coffers and to live in luxaryarious lifestyles. What have we learn from history? Nothing!

She, Deb Eugene, braver then all the dumbed down masses, she is right why train soldiers as killing machines for most of the ruling elites corrupted agendas those are dirty war-for-profitering enterprises, immoral political agendas etc.,

I love to study history. How charitable is that ? NOPE! Yea right helping China ,(You making me laugh here!) as the sly insidious USA leaders only thinking of themselves and don't want both power to rise in the world. But, the US is more afraid of what the modern Japanese empire could do to US political/ economic sphere of influence around the globe during WW2. If the japanese ever reach strategic location that is Hawaii, aftraid Japanese will invade America. So the US leaders only thinking of themselves, why not fight Japanese on China's soil and cause some damage to China's infrastructure and at same tome take out Japanese. Yea Right?

Daily Horoscope for November 28

Sagittarius

You may want to do things on the spur of the moment, but pay attention to detail if you want to avoid unexpected expenses. Even a last-minute decision to go for a bike ride could end up with an injury or a flat tire, so try to think your actions out carefully. Once unpredictable Uranus settles down, you can enjoy a more relaxed attitude towards life. This evening you can let your hair down.
