GM also needs to buy back its shares to get Obama off its back.

By all accounts the new Volt is going to revolutionize the auto industry and zoom GM's profits. They will be able to tell Obama and his comrads to P---zzz off!

Look at Ford, who refused to drink the Kool-Aid and compare it with the tax-payer supported fraud that GM is now.

Spending the peoples tax dollars has never, ever been responsible for economic recovery. It only interferes with the free market, nobdoy remembers how FDR slowed the recovery to a halt with his socialist meddling?

Of course not, he's held up by deluded progressives as an example of socialist success.

In other words, it takes fictional doublespeak to make dirty commies appear palatable.

not likely...critical acclaim for a new model has never been the shot to the arm in auto sales.

its another crappy designed (aesthically) american car...its already old looking and the cost of $50K and climbing isnt exactly going to entice the needed demographics...

american car manufacturers have to stop the "all or nothing" mentality. the notion that ONE product will be the ONE to save us is akin to their being a messiah - faith based and full of cr@p.

ground up is the better path, not this top down approach.

GM failed years ago. No president is at fault. GM executives and the board are to blame. In the late 80's Ross Perot was on the board after GM bought EDS and Perot was going to clean GM up and streamline the company. As soon as he mentioned getting rid of the corporate suites, perks and jets, he was shown the door. It is GM's lack of financial discipline that brought the company down. They should have been allowed to fail. GM is now the Amtrak of the auto world.

From the article: "The money for the first payment will come from funds the government gave GM to fund its operations through the bankruptcy process"

Is that like paying off your mortgage with money from your home equity loan?

You do know that the Obama administration tried to keep GM from bankruptcy with several bailouts totaling $44.2 billion (after already receiving $13.4 Billion under the Bush administration), changed the normal bankruptcy rules when they finally did go into chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, and replaced the CEO of GM don't you?

They are involved, whether you like it or not.

I think GM makes a good truck and some SUV's, but they need more than that. Seems like the Malibu is an ok car.

But does GM have quite a bit of the old mentality still around the boardroom?...well, look at the new GMC Terrain....duh!

Obama will give GM money from his right pocket and Gm will "repay" Obama in his right pocket. Lie after lie after lie of Obama and the American people keep going after the dictator Obama like blind sheep.
nevertheless The communistic Obama owned Government cars company that lost 1.2 billion dollars in the third quarter when other private car companies were profitable is sending our tax money overseas to GM factories in Brazil, Germany and Even Russia where our tax money is used to provide jobs to the foreigners but not for the American people. Obama used billions of dollars to pay to unions in Germany when the deal about selling Opel was cancelled by Obama.
Using the American people tax money for the Obama owned GM that pay for the union parasites of the UAW and to unions in Europe proves that the liberal communist Democratic regime of Obama Pelosi and Reid is fake phony fraud and aims at converting America to a banana welfare republic where union parasites enjoy salaries, pension and healthcare benefits paid by taxes of the middle class that has no jobs and no benefits.
It is time to stop the Obama communistic madness and stop the stealing of our money in front of our eyes by the corrupt African Muslim born Obama and redistributing our money to Obama union hordes, Acorn gangsters and the Black poor as way to buy their votes.
Next time when you send you hard earned tax money to Obama just remember that the money goes overseas to unions in Germany, Brazil and Russia and to the fat UAW parasites.
just an allusion

All too true, just as is the irony of GM using the loan money to pay back the debt owed, demonstrating that they haven't "recovered" in the least bit but are only masquerading as though they were stabilizing their ever failing business model...GM is GM's own worst enemy, NOT consumer sentiment or preference or so-called "lack of patriotism", as GM would the consumer believe.
