Watching 'Bladerunner' right now. It's the director's cut. I don't care much for this version. H. Ford said he didn't like the voice-over, and mr. scott agreed with him (Kissing ass, if you ask me) But I got a kick out of a twenty-first century Philip Marlowe. Guess I liked it because when the movie came out, HBO was running a series with Powers Boothe as Marlowe.
Your email aaddress? I don't know which one is supposed to work. Got three of 'em, ya know.
I killed one of 'em, due to hackers, and I've opened a new one. Check your messages. The other two are mostly for work and looking for same.(My current job is a joke with a terrible punchline, and I'm still searching for a real one.)

Nice trasnistion from Obamacare to Obamatax.
Speaking of Fast and Furious, do you have any idea why the House (Issa and Boehner) would proceed in a fashion that is guarenteed to not get them the documents as opposed to doing what has been done for many years to actually get them the documents?

Could it be that they are more interested in partison, gamemanship politics instead of conducting an honest investigation on the tax payers dime?
No, it couldn't. But it COULD be the reason why Pelosi, Reid and other Democrats walked out on a vote designed to help find out why a Federal agent lost his life.

I don't understand why YOU give them the satisfaction of letting what you call 'mocking Christ' bug you, since that is precisely why they post it. Let them babble on.
Protect your buttons better, Chris, and there will probably be less mocking of Christ in this thread.

If I engage a non-believer in a discussion of my faith I'm more than happy to explain it to them IF THEY ARE RECEPTIVE. I don't see any non-believers in this thread who are receptive to what I might have to say, so I stay silent.
If they ain't listening, there's no point in talking to them. No point in rewarding tantrums, you know?
When people who do profess faith in Christ can't tell the difference between The Gospel and a political ideology or party affiliation - that's different.

There is NOTHING in the Bible, NOTHING in the tenants of Christianity, that requires the faithful to be left or right, liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican, to support or oppose Obama, to support or oppose the health care legislation.
When I see something that wrong post by believers, I do sometimes speak out.
Chris, this is good advice. My friend, I suggest you take it.

<quoted text>After reading your post, I couldn't resist asking my husband, who is steeped in all things sci-fi, and practically a walking STAR TREK encyclopedia, which character from TNG that HE thinks Obama is most like. Remember the episode with the super-soldier, the one who'd been altered by his home world's government that Troi wanted to help? Me hubby said Obama is most like that home world's adorable chancellor or prime minister or whatever he was called, the one who kept saying "it was for their own good."

Both of you picked appropriate characters :)

Thanks for the refresher :) I can see you know your TNG trivia, but I think you need to re-read my post. NOBODY in his/her right mind could think DANAR was like Obama.

I will keep waiting due to your inability to rationalize your thoughts. Anyone that believes we have to hold public schools accountable BECAUSE those are tax dollars at work AND believes that private schools or home schools need not be held to the same standards when they are consuming tax dollaars has serious problems within their thought process.
I prefer to believe parents, not government, know what's best for their children. The government has standards, and what an excellent job they're doing with them. I especially like how when schools don't meet those standards, they lower or waive them.

School vouchers can be a valuable tool towards improving schools and education. A good parent(s) will know if schools are meeting their expectations... with or without the governments flex-standards.

You apparently have the same problem here that you do a number of places. You are confusing the "employment rate" with the raw number of people employed.
Perhaps this will help you as it gives both the number in the labor force along with the employment rate for select individuals and couples.
http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/2012/t...
What it doesn't give is 1998, the year you say employment peaked.

There probably is a difference between the "raw number of people employed", and the "employment rate". One of them doesn't have the government "reworking" the numbers, such as the "unemployment rate" wher they don't inmclude 25% of the raw number of unemployed.

Shame on you. The vote was never about finding out why, it was always about politics. And speaking of the politics; Reid walked out on a House vote? Want to explain that one?

So now you think parents don't choose to send their children to public school. Interesting. Both my parents and my wife and I could have easilly have chosen private schools and chose not to. How do you explain that.

I am happy to hear you can afford to send your children to private colleges. A rare feat indeed.

You can find it if you are interested. I have posted it before.

So, if the government decides if you are self employed and you don't work any hours you are still employed it really is not working the numbers......well you are free to believe that all you want.

If you look at past posts, my preferred is the rate of people working fulltime, but I understand how a self avowed independent who apparently always sides with Republicans would have a problem with such a number.

Me? I have no problem with it at all. BNote that I said the employment rate topped out at least two years before Clinton left office. that would mean it had already stopped dropping before he left office. But you are so steeped in Republican BS that you still think it makes Republicans look bad as opposed to all of them.

Shame on ME? A young man lost his life, Holder, supported by Obama, blocks every attempt of Congress to investigate why, Pelosi and Reid show support for Holder's and Obama's blocking the investigation, yet shame on ME? Gimme a break, Bos. Either that or get yourself a sense of proportion.

By the way, I am NOT a Republican. I'm an Independent and have no plans to change.

Bobbi, Bobbi, Bobbi. Haven't you been paying attention at All? Barry and his cronies are Above the law. BTW, the 'law' more or less defines what We can't do as opposed to what they can.
See, according to barry and his bunch, including the henchmen nine, can do whatever the F*ck they want, and all we can do is applaud them, or face their wrath.
holder is going to say that part of the man's job included being shot at, and he will completely ignore the fact that holder himself gave the criminal the gun toi shoot at the agent in question.

You just seem so plastic when you say stuff like that. Like you're parroting some talking head. You have to know how serious this is and that Holder should hold himself accountable to give answers. Here's the story. Fast and furious was a "pilot" program under Bush. They sent out three guns, and two were never traced. therefore they stopped the program as a failure. For some reason under Holder (and Obama) they reignited Fast and Furious with many many more guns. Why? Only Holder knows. We have a right to know too. And Pelosi and her cronies are grandstanding, hoping accusations of racism will stick. People died because of this Okb and I get the feeling these people don't care.

The first two or three days are the worst, then you adjust. If the impairment is long term, you change.
Like, back in the late eighties and early nineties, I was an internet junkie. I'd be online for hours after work. Then in '93, we moved from Seattle to L.A., and I went offline for years. Even after we got back online in 2004, I stayed away from it for three years. I'd check the news reports, the weather, and read the sports page, but didn't sign in on any thread until 2007. Heck, even my email address was my daughter's leftover, when she changed hers to AOL

Know why I got back into it? A guy in Parker Az. asked if anyone knew how to use the media to aid in removing board members from his tribe's council. I helped him get rid of half the elected council, and he helped organize the tribal members to re-take control of their tribe, and it's casino. After he got what he wanted, he forgot my email address, and I never heard from him again. He's probably the same ogre that we removed five years ago. Funny how power does that to folks.

I got an email from the gun lobby Right after the screw-up happened. They said that the idea was to track the guns, a truckload of more than four thousand guns, to it's final destination, which was hopefully, the drug dealers lair. But, when the truck went across the border, feds couldn't follow it, and they didn't put a GPS on it either. What they Do know is that guns from that truck are responsible for the deaths of two DEA agents, and probably a whole lot more crime in border states.
It also feels like barry is saying,'there's nothing you can do about it,'cause we aren't going to let you.'
Like the man said,'The laws are different for the rich and powerful.' the responxe?'What laws?'

The loss of internet wasn't so bad but we also were without any electric, and water had to be used very sparingly as we have a grinder pump. I cooked on a grill (made sausage gravy and biscuits for b-fast :) It's all very charming it first but it started to really get on my nerves after awhile.
My husband always says "no good deed goes unpunished" The thing is if you keep on doing good deeds anyway, you stand a head above the rest, as I think you probably do.

I'm so happy for you and your parents having the good fortune to have access to good public schools, unfortunately, millions of parents do not have that option. How would you feel about having to send your kids to public school in inner-city Philadelphia?

Having a voucher to choose where to spend your tax dollars, and send your child, could greatly improve Philadelphia's schools... only the "good" schools/teachers would survive.
okboston wrote:

I don't know if I could today... it appears that their pricing has skyrocketed for some unknown reason... and nobody is even questioning why. All the government is doing is making it easier for students, even those that really shouldn't be in higher education, to go into debt using taxpayer dollars. Next thing we'll be doing is dumping that trillion in debts on the taxpayer, and the national debt.

I rely on the numbers, although the population is increasing, the number of employed is dropping since the all time high of President Bush. Seems simple to me.

It's not just agent Brian Terry, those weapons are directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent Mexican citizens too.

We need to find out why we released thousands of top of the line automatic weapons to drug cartels, and heads need to roll. This cannot be allowed to happen again, and everyone needs to know that there are consequences to even considering doing anything similar in the future. As of this moment, not one person involved in this has been reprimanded, punished or fired.

But first, we need to find out why and how it happened. This reminds me so much of Nixon, and Clinton too,(both eventually found guilty)... except in this case, people are dying, and lots of them.

This really pisses me off. People are being killed, and politicians are covering it up, and claiming it's just political. If it's just politics as usual, release the requested documents and show us that's all it is... the administration has the media on their side, and they'll paint Republicans badly if that's all it turns out to be.
