No, because what do you charge for "n'gger" vs "peckerwood" or "honky". However it should make you think about where you spend your money, the company you keep, and how much value you have in the process ... put it in check!

Not really. Here's the obvious: Free speech is free unless it is restricted, regardless of whether or not the speaker uses poor judgement.

Restrict it at our peril.

Black people call each other the N word. White people are called every name in the book and we are suppose to like it? Do you see whites making a big fuss over it? I do not think an apology was necessary either. This was blown way out of proportion.

It is called FREEDOM OF SPEECH. We don't always agree with what people say, but we all agree they have a right to say what they want.

Yep, common sense but not codification.

I've got an idea for ya. In order to truly exercise your right to free speech, do me a favor, hop a plane ride, mabey something ineternational, and yell you've got a bomb...

If they get upset or anything, just remind them that you've got rights.

One entry found for ni_ger.
Main Entry: nig·_er
Pronunciation:'ni-g&r
Function: noun
Etymology: alteration of earlier neger, from Middle French negre, from Spanish or Portuguese negro, from negro black, from Latin niger
1 usually offensive; see usage paragraph below : a black person
2 usually offensive; see usage paragraph below : a member of any dark-skinned race
3 : a member of a socially disadvantaged class of persons <it's time for somebody to lead all of America's nig_ers...all the people who feel left out of the political process -- Ron Dellums>
usage Nigger in senses 1 and 2 can be found in the works of such writers of the past as Joseph Conrad, Mark Twain, and Charles Dickens, but it now ranks as perhaps the most offensive and inflammatory racial slur in English. Its use by and among blacks is not always intended or taken as offensive, but, except in sense 3, it is otherwise a word expressive of racial hatred and bigotry.
If the deffinition is "all the people who feel left out of the political process --" then most American citizens are simply the N word no matter what tint of skin.

"Free speech is free unless it is restricted, regardless of whether or not the speaker uses poor judgement. Restrict it at our peril. "

You seem like you agree that it is NOT ok to do something like that(or you seem to see how stupid that sounds).

But, Guy says that its not "free speech" if its restricted(even if you do something stupid, his words not mine), and if you can't yell bomb in a plane or fire in a theater, then you agree we need SOME restriction on free speech not AT our peril, but to PREVENT unneeded peril.

Can you agree with that? Or am I totaly wrong? Or do you just feel the need to make personal attacks?

As stated before, if you don't want to hear the word, don't pay these people with your hard earned cash. After awhile, either the so-called comediens or the clubs will get the idea. In the meantime, you use your money to make the decision. Personally if you need the bad words to make humor, then five year old kids can tell jokes.
