Oh man, If you knew how many times I heard that in the 3rd and 4th grade....
I do plan to return to private life on or about the 3rd of November. In the meantime I will continue my one man online blitzkrieg to get Libertarian John Monds and the rest of the merry crew of Libertarian candidates to the 20%+1 of the vote benchmark. That is victory.

Mary is obviously the most qualified candidate in this race. Not a very tough decision at all.

I asked myself the same question back in April at the Georgia Libertarian Convention. Most states (34 out of 50) in the USA appoint the Commissioner of Insurance so you can count getting a reliable party hack that will do what he's told in most of the USA.

In Georgia it's a statewide constitutional elected office, in my mind the Commissioner of Insurance is supposed to look out for the citizens of the state that chose him. He shouldn't be looking out for the interests of the people who own the firms of the industries he regulates.

I can promise you and the rest of Georgia that our states Insurance Industrial Complex has no hold on me. Just take a peek at my campaign finance statements over at the State Ethics Commission website. Ralph Hudgens is knee deep in Insurance money, small loan money and about every other kind of special interest money you can think of. He's this race's $1,000,000 dollar candidate. All of that for a gig that pays $120K a year. I invite you all to do the math.

I will work to bring more insurance companies into Georgia's insurance markets. We have a lot of impediments as of right now with our insurance premium tax, our health insurance mandates and a whole bunch of uncertainty due to the ongoing saga of ObamaCare. I don't have a lot of technical expereince on the ins and outs of the insurance game, but as Commissioner, I'll be sacking enough of John Oxendines appointees to hire my own crew of subject matter experts and get the ball rolling on more choices for Georgia.

Perhaps you should learn from Oxendine's staff before you go in and fire people. That office is the best run state entity. Have you ever had a problem and needed that office? They take care of individuals quickly and with respect. It's the only office in this state, or any other for that matter, that takes good care of us little guys.

You'll have to take care of this industry, just as you do the individuals you represent. You must have a respect for their financial bottom line or we all lose. It seems to me, you're just giving lip service to voter.

As I understand it, there are about 300 staffers at the Commissioner's Office. I'm guessing that 30 or so are high level appointee's, department chairs, special investigators, lawyers and other "consultants". If I am elected, those positions will be reviewed first and I expect quite a few will resign once the reign of John Oxendine is done. The rank and file employees who answer the phone, file the paperwork and actually get the work done will continue to do just that.

Of any of the candidates currently running I think I'm the most aware that Georgia's insurance industry has to make a profit. I'm concerned that the industry's trend towards consolidation and the shift towards internet based service and marketing is going to kill off more than a few of Georgia's insurance agencies. The large firms are winning the negotiating war in the ObamaCare waiver pie fight and that's going leave a lot of Georgia's individual agencies and brokers SOL.

I have as much banking experience as I have insurance agency experience. Zero, nada, nothing. I've had bank accounts and insurance policies all my life as a consumer, some experiences have been good, others not so much. Fortunately, if I am elected I'm pretty sure the brainpower I'll need to get the job done is out there on the open market and I will put it to work.
