Only Republican men voted against this, but it passed.

Benefits for Homeless Veterans- Would have expanded benefits to homeless veterans and homeless veterans with children. Republicans blocked this.

The Jobs Bill- Offsets the payroll tax for 1 year for companies that higher new employees, or people receiving unemployment insurance. Also gives other tax incentives to companies hiring new employees. Republicans attempted to block this.

Small business lending bill- would give LOCAL, community banks access to billions of dollars to loan to small businesses. Republicans blocked this.

Financial reform- Puts stricter regulations on the banks, preventing them from becoming "too big to fail". Curbs reckless spending practices that caused the banking crisis. Republicans attempted to block this.

Oil Spill Liability- Raises the liability on what companies can be made to pay to clean up after an oil spill. Republicans blocked this.

Political Ad disclosure bill- Would have required all donors to political campaigns to reveal themselves. Republicans blocked this.

Immigration- Republican suggested comprehensive immigration reform until Obama supported it. Now they're rapidly opposed to it and even voted against their own legislation. Republicans blocked this.

Unemployment Extension- Would provide additional aid to the millions of Americans still on unemployment who are just trying to support themselves and their familes. Republicans blocked this bill for 8 weeks before it finally passed. Republicans blocked this for 8 weeks before it finally passed.

The main thing you need to understand about bills in congress is that riders and addendums come with the territory. Obama's healthcare bill was a perfect example. In other words, a bill may be called the highway infrastructure bill, implying that it's strictly to improve our highways. But in reality, there are riders added to the bill for subsidizing farmers, and paying for medical care for illegal immigrants. That's why a lot of bills get shot down.
Secondly, as much as I appreciate the sacrifice of our troops, I'm not willing to go out of business to save a position for them when they are not there. Business must go on, or go out of business. The alternative is to hire someone temporarily until the veteran returns. Then guess what. I have to let the temporary employee go. Then what? I get to pay unemployment for that temporary employee. Then I get back a disabled employee that can't do the job as well as he/she once could, or as well as the temporary employee. So I get to pay the price for that employees choice to join the military. I know, I'm just horrible and non-politically correct for wanting my business and lively hood to survive.
Lastly, where do you think all that money comes from to finance these programs? Does it grow on trees? No it comes in the form of more taxes on you and me. If you don't feel you are taxed enough, I'm sure the freeloaders and other liberals, and charity organizations will be more than willing to accept your generous donations.

You can lead a liberal to water but you can't make him drink. I think these people are so preprogrammed and brainwashed, you could totally repair the governmental system proving that certain reforms work, and they would still find some kind of excuse to argue that liberalism is a better way.

Unemployment is continuing to rise. If you are looking at current statistics you need to keep in mind that the current statistics start excluding people that have been unemployed more than 12 months. In other words if you have been unemployed for 12 months and 1 day, and are still unemployed, you are not counted in the current statistics. Actual current unemployment is actually 16% rather than the reported 8%.

You may not have said the funds came from the employees only, but you sure left out where the majority of the funds come from. And it may help some families that would like to get back to work. But the fact remains that the majority are willing to sit on their ass and collect your and my tax dollars. Once 51% of voters are sitting on said ass and collecting off the back of the working man, we will never be able to go back short of civil war.
With more companies moving factories to China, it's not going to be long before financial collapse.

You are correct that poor people go to the ER and we pay for it. You are naive if you think that is going to change. Your problem is that you look at one government forced topic at a time. You see, providing insurance for American Citizens sounds great. Where does that money come from? That's right, more taxes. Haven't we talked about more taxes already, well add these 21 to the list. Now that we have cleared all those ERs of freeloaders, they can concentrate on treating all these insured people without thought of freeloaders right? Yes Obamacare sure has helped us all out, higher insurance premiums and they just keep rising, and just where is the 2500 dollars per family savings Obama promised. He just threw that number out to sucker people into thinking they would receive this amount back per year to promote Obamacare, who would be so gullible to believe this guy anymore. Now young grads who are lucky enough to find work, who make 27k and are self employed will have to pay up with 8 percent of their income for their healthcare premiums, wow because the government will not allow them to have a policy that only covers big emergencies with a high deductible, no that won't qualify anymore. How could he do this to these kids, the economy is doing so bad as it is. And how could unemployment for recent grads go any higher than 53 percent, that is out of the ballpark! It appears for many recent grads hope and change has faded into despair and a dismal future. They will not be voting Obama in the fall, this I know!

The FACTS are unemployment HAS GONE UP! FACT is unemployment is HIGHER than nobama's "new" accounting method shows. It does NOT count those who no longer receive unemployment benefits, but still don't have a job.To say the gov't providing healthcare to the number of poor people we have is beneficial, is a farce. All you do is make them more dependent on gov't. Fact is if gov't concentrated on helping the private sector create jobs, insted on how to make everything harder for job creators at all levels. More people would be gainfully employed, wouldn't be poor, and need the gov't. If gov't stopped dumping money we don't have into useless endeavors like "green" initiatives for which there is no market and go belly up as soon as they run out of "free money". The same could be said for alot of the "humanitarian" aid. We spend untold billions on countries that are pissing down our backs after taking that money, Pakistan is a prime example. If we had all that money. There would be more to help those here at home. Our prime objective right now, is GETTING PEOPLE BACK TO WORK AND OFF THE GOV'T TIT! That's all cute, but what does it have to do with slavery? Racism hasn't led us to where we are today. The enabling of people to do nothing by gov't and paying them for it has. Anyone who believes racism is responsible for where we are now, is a racist. How can there be 49% of Americans paying no federal income tax, but getting money back in the form of "earned income credits"? If they aren't paying ANY tax, where does the money come from? Those who do pay tax that's where. How can we continue to let nobama promote class warfare on the producers and achievers in our society, as if the accumulation of honestly earned wealth is evil, and prosper? How can we continue to let the likes of OWS vilify capitalism? The very economic engine that has afforded more of it's citizens a higher standard of living than any inn history, not to mention the liberties and freedoms we enjoy?
