Sunni-backed leader says crisis with Shiite-led government is tearing Iraq apart

Iraq needs new leaders to prevent the country from disintegrating, the leader of the main Sunni-backed bloc said Wednesday, reflecting the severity of a sectarian political battle in the Shiite-led government, accompanied by violence, just a month after the exit of U.S. forces.

Yes, and let the Kurds and Shia Marsh Arabs, and Sunnis of the Triangle decide for themselves whether to remain part of Iraq or to opt for independence.
The same goes for the Druze and Alawi of Syria.

Good point. The Alawi may be supporting Assad because he is one of them, and the Druze may be afraid of the Sunni majority taking over and launching a backlash. So, while their actions may be understandable to a certain extent, that does not make them right. I think that they would be wiser to work for their own independence, like that which existed under the Syrian mandate (i.e. Alawite state and Jabal Druze).
