What a joke... Rosenberg, would be fortunate to keep his job in a Top 50 market with that type of gaffe and his laisez faire approach in the aftermath during sweeps no less... The KGMB-KHNL debacle is predictable no doubt... All the stations, and GM's, benefit from the fact, Hawaii is still diaries from Nielsen, and only 3 sweeps per year, ala the 80's. With people meters, all these stations, including local news, would look much worse with the high percentage of cable and now, DSS... The quality of the news programming and for that matter, local sports as it is, is not compelling enough to have appointment viewing sans 55+ viewers.

Couldn't agree more. Hawaii television news pretty much sucks, though they all think it's pretty damned great.

no worry, i read the public relationships fax's. i can do the ratings for you. let's see, a 10 for joe, a 7 for paula and lets give the new guys an 8. no sense in paying good money for ratings when i can pull numbers out of the air in my garage.

KHNL has always had the a highschool AV club quality to it and now that is bleeding into KGMB. The newscasts this week have been a joke.

Yes! One day it'll be all Joe Moore all the time on not one but FOUR tv news stations. I sense the quadruple merger happening in 2012 right before the end of the world in December.

Don't see much diff with the new merger. Same old manufactured news: traffic, weather, surf reports, even airline delayed flight info. Any Web site can give you that stuff.
Where's the investigative reporting? No more. Where's Tina Shelton, Matt Levi, even the nice features by Leslie Wilcox? Seems like it's all young kids giddy to be on tv but with no real journalism background. TV news in Hawaii is very, very weak. |
