Xcaliber wrote: <quoted text> What happened to global warming? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8299079.stm From your link: "Both sides have very different forecasts. The Met Office says that warming is set to resume quickly and strongly. It predicts that from 2010 to 2015 at least half the years will be hotter than the current hottest year on record (1998). Sceptics disagree. They insist it is unlikely that temperatures will reach the dizzy heights of 1998 until 2030 at the earliest. It is possible, they say, that because of ocean and solar cycles a period of global cooling is more likely." I like this: it means there are two verifiable predictions about what is going to happen over the next 5 years, based on the conflicting viewpoints and science claims. After that, one side or the other is going to have to concede on this issue.

Global warming is another money grabbing hoax, this time it's liberals that fell for it. I don't know how true this is, but I heard polar ice caps were melting on several other planets in our solar system, the sun was getting warmer and we've had an ice age or two that ended without industrialization.

Bob Burns wrote: <quoted text>He just politicized it and capitalized on that Yeah what a pity the Right did not politicise it into a question of national security and commit a trillion dollar to getting off the oil instead of wasting it on useless wars. We would be just about ready to tell the Middle East, Russia, and Venezuela to go xxxx themselves by now. AGW or no AGW, this would be a good thing for the West.

There is no help for the Mega-flare, so save your cash. But it is quite balmy here for a November evening, so if this is global warming, I like it.

The inebriated Foolishness and Poison of Liberalism You really are missing the point. Al Gore did not invent AGW. I said it was a concern of scientists from at least the early 80s. I was corrected on that - it was the early 50s. I don't like Al Gore. Still, the veracity or otherwise of AGW does not stand or fall on Al Gore or any other "inebriated, foolish, poisonous Liberal" as you would put it. AGW stands or falls on the science, period.
