Sorry Ron, We have to change our lifestyles for the better. NO NUKES! We will be conserving energy and resources better, Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Smaller families, less consumption and waste, more mpg's, less SUV's. All homes built green and with Passive Solar for heat. Bush has already set us back 10 years with greed and waste. We need the Baby Boomers to vote green with our dollars.

How is this going to occur? We had a record winter for cold and snowfall. Right now it is 20 degrees F below "normal" and snowing. Speaking of "normal" I like how the media uses that word instead of the correct term "average". The media tries to make it sound as if there is one exact temperature that we will be at each day and any variance is out of "normal". What a load of garbage. To top it off, it is well known that the planet was much warmer in the distant past. Perhaps the planet is trying to get back to that temperature range again. Besides, we are coming off an ice age PEOPLE!!!!

The whole global warming craze is not about the environment. Its about government and people with power telling you what you should eat, what you should drive, what you should where, how much you should consume and basically what you should buy overall. It’s about running your life because they know better than you what is good for you. Its socialists trying to extend there views world wide and we are letting them do it. Get ready to start giving your paycheck to more people that will not work so that you will not be better off them because that is not far. It’s all connected and it’s all a bunch of crap!

Then again, the poles could be covered with ice by the end for the year. This kind of story isn't news, it's just idle speculation intended to scare people. The truth of the matter is that many respected climatologists dispute the claims of politicians concerning global warming. These scientists base their assessment on scientific data, not on political agendas and grandstanding. Unfortunately, the analysis of the climatologists is severly underreported.

If this happens, the whole world will be suffering mass flooding...... at least that's what the scientists have told us. I would think that if we're that close to it happening, the sea level would be up a bit wouldn't it?

The political cliques took decades of pressure from climatologists to finally agree that global warming exists at all. Most politicians now still don't think global warming exists. Al Gore is probably the only 'true believer' in global warming. I, for one, am grateful for global warming. The 14th through the 18th centuries were much colder than the preceding few centuries or the later centuries. The industrial age started late 18th century and things have warmed up since. I believe that man-made warming is the only thing keeping us out of the next ice age.

Well Cecil from Wisconsin you appear to only be looking at the U.S. for your weather info...there is a whole other world out there. The U.S. may have had a slightly below normal winter but many other countries were much warmer.

I would think that if we're that close to it happening, the sea level would be up a bit wouldn't it? Melting sea ice has little effect on sea levels. It is already part of the sea mass since it is floating on/in the water. It would take adding the ice mass from land, like Greenland and Antarctica, to significantly raise the worlds sea levels.

I'm not disagreeing about global warming, but the hot summer comment deserves reflection... Here in northern wisconsin, the majority of lakes still have ice covering them. Snow is still in the forcast. We've consistantly been 20-25 deg F below average temp for this time of year (though we did have a few days above 60). Last year it was 71, today it is 38 out there. Spring isn't even here yet, hard to speculate about summer...

The ice on the North Pole will probably melt. The ice on the South Pole will probably grow. Since lack of ice (water) is heavier, gravity will pull the north pole more toward the sun. Since an increase in ice is lighter, lack of gravity will push the south pole away from the sun. This will probably cause a major shift in Earth's axis. This was predicted by scientists a very, very long time ago and since has been erased from books since it is an unpopular theory. They predicted the date to be near June solstice of 2012.
