Vietnamese surf Internet for reading news and chatting,

VN is more modern from day to day.
this is a good indicator for it.

i am wondering what sort of news are available for those 89% viet surfers while all of decent news websites are firewalled in vn by the commie. Hope they know how to use proxy server

When was your last time in VN?????
When it is called internet, it is the same principle ALL OVER THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD, only different levels of speeds/services from suppliers.
So far, myself in Hochiminh City in 2006 I found out NO DIFFERENT at all from how I surf in Canada. I means NO DIFFERENT!
(The same thing when I was in Delta region, only slower speed).
That means I can read all kinds of news, surf ALL KIND OF PORN-SITES and with high speed just like at home, Canada.
You should spend some BUCKS to travel and see for yourself.

All I know is my trip in VN, when I was in relaxation mode, I would be on computers and just like I'm home in Canada, no difference to me. If you try to do some weird thing then of course you deserve the consequence. Let put this way:
-Vietnam standards of living is obviously low compared to the world economically. Then the rules and regulations of course must be in a certain way for VN interest, politically. You said rules and regulations are put in place to benefit VN. Since you said it with authority you must have deep understand the principle behind those rules and regulations. Then let me ask you why no freedom of press and no freedom of speech benefit VN? If you ask this same question to someone grew up in a democracy society, the answer you would get is those rules and regulations are made to benefit the government, not the people being governt.
