No problem my friend. You rock! I'm so glad you were not kicked off Topix, it just would not be the same.

Weird often stems from a piece being missing. Find the piece and weird disappears. All of reality consists of events in the sense that stasis doesn't exist. I dare you, double dare you, triple dare you to show me stasis in the macroscopic cosmos. This is why we have clocks and calendars to measure events with. Stasis, in a figurative sense, may have existed before the Big Bang but not afterwards.
Each life form's presence can be viewed as an event. On the macroscopic level, no events occur as simple on/off occurrences. From solar sunspot cycles to supernovae to earthquakes to orbital velocities, there is an emergence, progression to maximum and then a retreat to a minimum. Sure, there is a huge contextual element involved here but true nonetheless. Life forms can also be viewed as emerging and retreating events with maximums between. Literature has long portrayed this as Life being a 'blink of an eye', "candle flame extinguished','a terminated song' or, as in my case, a flatulent dust devil dissipated. I trust that my minimum still lies over the horizon.
OK, I think that you just answered your question as to why I am constantly changing my avatar. I embrace the fluxuations in everything. For a person to try and force their enviroment and/or self into a constant state of being is an exercise in futility.
I do not force change I just accept it.

I do miss Cousin Jethro, hope he is home watching a doc that I just watched called "American Drug Wars". I would like to think that I cheer on truth and justice more than any ideology, person, politic. It comes from all different sorts of sources and finds a voice in the most unexpected places sometimes. Why I don't attach "too" much to any collective thought. I need to be free to cosmic "updates" , ya know?
Does anyone know for sure whether he was banned from Topix or is this just an urban myth?

Change is good at the cash register. Change is good with vacations and underwear. But change for change's sake can be whimsical and risky. Serendipity has its place but it can't hold a candle to security, fidelity and constancy.

I'm getting serious ... let's change the subject.

Sounds like fatalism or determinism. Even the most light-hearted ad-hoc philosophical colloquialisms states "Row, Row, Row your boat gently down the stream ... Life is but a dream ...".

At the very least, it exhorts us to row, to engage a current, to aim the darned boat ... to DO something.

A leaf floating down a stream is just destined for composting inside some seaside swamp.

Candles tend to run out of fuel. Water is always thee is just changes form. What can I say ?
men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

I like that quote.

Avoid the decaf. Waking dreamers live in the tail-wind of reality. Drinking decaf is part of a conspiracy conjured up by a man's wife and his doctor.

Actually I've had many years to accomplish that small amount of reading. A lack of imagination will cause things to seem "tedious"....when in fact they are insightful and thought provoking. The 'younger' lazier generation can't be expected to dedicate time to such an endeavor. They are way to busy running off have cocked and only partially informed!
Or fully cocked and completely ill informed.
