What the heck have the tobacco companies put in cigerettes in order to make them go out faster? Every cigerette has it now and it tastes terrible. It has also caused me to cough which I never have done before. Why are cigerette smokers being treated like second class citizens and why can't we buy chemical free tobacco. I think cigerette smokers should file a class action lawsuit against the big tobacco companies. How do we even know this added chemical is safe for ingestion? What the heck is going on here?

Well. To answer your first question. NEOPRENE bands have been put on the paper. Neoprene is a fire retardant, and also has a really bad habit of when burning putting into the atmosphere, and hence your lungs, more carcinogens than 5 cartons of cigarettes smoked at one time.

As to your second question, smokers are treated like second class citizens since non-smokers are much more voluable and more aggressive than smokers. Yes smokers should stand up for their rights to buy Chemical free cigarettes, and should start a class action law suit. To do this you need 1000 signatures, and you need to claim it against someone. I suggest trying to go after the states, the FDA, The Fire Safety Council, the American Home Owners Association, and anyone else who has a vested interest in seeing that the fire safety chemical (aka neoprene) stays in cigarettes.

To answer you third and Fourth question: Neoprene is not safe to ingest. Nor is the burnt vapors safe to inhale. Welcome to the Democratically Run America. We must protect you from yourself. Democrats have forced Big Tobacco to put the chemicals in cigarettes. Tobacco doesn't want them. You smoke more if your cigarette burns down... So, here is some facts for you:

Democrats voted into law the fire safety chemicals
Democrats voted into effect the current housing crisis.
Democrats voted into law the 55mph speed limits
Democrats voted into law the seatbelt rules
Democrats voted into law the helmet rule.
Democrats voted into law each and ever gun legislation there has been.
Democrats voted into law each and every gas/fuel regulation.
Democrats voted AGAINST the economic stimulation and regulation of credit.
Democrats voted against the rights of citizens to make decisions for themselves.
Democrats have voted against the de-regulation of certain drugs.
Democrats have voted against opening the oil fields in America and keeping the oil at home to lower gas/fuel prices.
Democrats have voted against anything that would "conceivably endanger the life of a single citizen of the United States of America."
Democrats have voted FOR each and every safety regulation no matter how ridiculous, or ill advised it is.
Democrats made it possible for a person breaking into your home to SUE you if you shot him in defense and did not kill him, and allow the robber to WIN!
Democrats want to be able to put into place safe guards and laws to prevent you from possibly coming to harm, causing harm, or in anyway shape or form doing harm to your self, the environment, and the world at large.

Does this answer your questions?

Who gives a shit about all the things democrats have voted in! I thought we were talking about FSC in our cigerettes!! Look, I'm down here in Kentucky, and I have witnessed some really bizarre side effects from FSC. Anything ranging from numbness of the tongue, mouth and lips, to fever, chills, flu like symptoms, bronchitis, coughing, wheezing, tongue burning, nausea etc. This has got to stop. If we thought smoking caused lung cancer before, you better be prepared for a number of cases to pop up in the near fufture.

If it really is a dangerous substance, not only bands of paper, then there will surely be grounds for a lawsuit, buy Your smokes where the clerks see You often and will remember in court, save a cigarette from each carton for analysis, keep track of how much You spend(reciepts),and keep a log of symptoms. Judges love hard evidence. I can see this going very badly for the Cig Cos and the lawmakers. There are Millions of smokers.

I didn't know that Texas had passed the FSC bill. Completely unaware of it. In mid January, I actually got sick (flu-like symptoms) for the first time in many years. This lasted for about 2 weeks! I couldn't shake it, it seemed.

During this "Flu", I noticed that my Camel's were going out on their own and thought it odd but thought that it was just me. Early February I figured that it wasn't just me, there was something wrong with my smokes. I asked the retailer one night, and he pointed out the FSC print above the Texas tax logo and explained that it is now a law. It's now late February and my hacking cough and sinus issues have yet to go away (issues that I never dealt with before).

I've been smoking the same brand for 23 years without any issues. Now this. I figured that it was just me at first... but it didn't take me long to put 2 and 2 together and realize that something was most definitely up... they'd tampered with my smokes enough to make me question them.

I'm changing to stuff your own smokes. I'd rather do that than inhale anymore of the crap the Fed's say have to be in my smoke. Pure tobacco and clean paper, baby!

this is crap. theese cigs are making people sick and they taste like crap. its not bad enough they do this to our smokes but then want to charge us an arm and a leg for them.if people need fire safe cigs they shouldn't be smoking.why should everyone have to pay for people who are careless.

you guys need to do research and not talk out your asses. you're a bunch of morons. natural cigs continue to have no chemicals. they use a natural starch solution that arrests the cigs. American Spirits use two rings of this solution throughout the cigarette(near the front and near the back). Maybe you all should switch to chemical free cigs. Did it ever occur to any of you that it could be one of the other, or several of the chemicals in cigs that aren't all natural that are bothering you? Incidentally, the cigs that contain chems, contain several hundred.

Obviously the anti smoking propaganda won't look very convincing with many 70+ year old smokers anymore. If the chemicals in packaged cigarettes won't kill us fast enough, maybe this stuff will (and just blame it on smoking to boot!). All Natural cigarettes won't help since they all have FSC on them. Google napthalene and why workers wear breathing protection when manufacturing. Only smokers get this kind of abuse. We have to die at the rates they predicted, otherwise they lose their funding, it's as simple as that. Join the RYO Revolution (dotcom) and not only avoid FSC but to enjoy tobacco the way it's meant to be enjoyed again.

Native American Spirit cigarettes is no longer a lovely little company in Santa Fe, NM. They were purchased by the Camel Co. a few years ago and the cigarettes are now made in North Carolina. The advertising just makes it look like the production is all still in NM.
All the N A Spirits have the FSC (Fire Safe Cigarette) code under the bar code, including the ones that say on the pack 100% Organic (supposed to mean no pesticides or chemicals, etc. used in the product).
I smoked the regulars (blue pack) for about 7 years and changed to the Organics (red pack)about 4 yrs ago. Since the FSC law has been passed, I cough every morning (which NEVER happened before!) and they smell weird and actually taste bad. My tongue and lips feel numb and also have a burning sensation. I eat mostly organic foods and I am particularly sensitive to chemicals, but I love to smoke. After researching the chemical fire retardant put into these cigarettes (neoprene), I am trying the organic pouch tobacco ($12.55--but makes more than 2 packs of cigarettes), rolled by me with rolling papers. It's been a good two days now, and the air is clearer and I feel better. Damn, this is just strange!
I feel sad about it all; I loved those! It may be time to quit since I know that chemical is really nasty!!
Thanks!

That was a really stupid and short response to the actual question asked. Neoprene has nothin g to do with it, it's just layers of paper. Although cigs taste and smoke horribly now!

maybe they can come up with a fire safety mobile meth lab they seem to be exploding in Indiana every day!!!! burning more houses down, and putting more people in danger than cigarettes ban the lighters that children get their hands on,but please do not put these chemicals on our cigarettes.my throat is raw.I will go to the doctor tomorrow and if I can prove it is these cigs I will file a suit against the state, they are the ones who had the choice to vote this into law.

Hey Ray,
I and my husband are smokers from way back. In October of 2008 I came down with a lung disorder that the doc's still don't know what was the cause of this illness is,and it took my off the job permanently, but after my husband came home one day from one of his two week runs out on the road for his job he told me about the the new FSC cigs. I have been spending my my time looking on the web for any information that I can find and downloading it because I somehow disappears if I don't. I currently I'am seeking my Social Security Disability with a lawyer because of my lung conditions and I and my husband are now rolling our own smokes. Please e-mail @ Lorraine_Lyons2003@yahoo.com if you have any information that we can share. I am going to my lawyer's office with the information I dug up and see if he can get a law suit filed against the FDA, and others responsible for these killer smokes. Wish me luck.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Leo

You'll be action-oriented today, Leo. If truth be told, intense physical activity has the ability to soothe you much more than frenzied mental exercise. Invitations to madness are the wrong thing for you, but they are tempting nonetheless. Dig in your heels and do what you know you have to do. When driving this evening, take extra care.
