Prof. Hawkins finally succumbed to political correctness and went on this tilting at windmills crusade to find an african Einstien. If there were any people of this calibre of intelect in deepest darkest africa, don't you think that they would have emerged by now ?
As for Dr. Watsons own genes showing a small percentage of black african, it does not mean a thing. You can drink still arsenic if it is diluted enough. These people should accept the life that has dealt them. They were left behind by evolution when they opted to stay behind when humanity left the great rift valley eons ago to populate the rest of the world

These posts are depressing. There but for the grace of God go I. Those of you not born into disease, poverty and tyranny can afford to shoot off your mouths about Africa. Talk is cheap. That's why you do it.

While a few brave others put their money where their mouths are.

Extraordinary efforts, humanitarian, economic and otherwise to help Africa have generally failed. And now China is giving it the proverbial try.

I've read Professor Hawking's books and like most people of his calibre his brilliance is astounding. But, I don't understand his motive to find another "Dr. Einstein" because the essence of Einstein's genius was a unique miracle. There is no other Einstein and likely to never be another. Certainly Africans will produce brilliant scientists and mathematicians, but, there are no Einsteins alive anywhere today.

I disagree. There are a lot of scientist that are doing cutting edge, new groundbreaking work. Like the scientists that proposed the string theory, proving some of Einstein's theories incorrect.

Te thing is that there hasn't been another scientist with Einstein's charackter. Einsteinfits made the mould for the scientist and very often these scientists are boring, dull people.

Einstein was an interesting man and people loved hearing about him.

Even rarer in Africa than another Einstein, is an African politician that has any regard whatsoever for the plight of the people that in habit the countries and continent.

Speaking of which, do you guys understand Einstein's theory of general and special relativity.

There is no shortage of intellect in Africa. There is a shortage of the social structure and political will necessary to bring it to fruition in the area of mathematics and applied science.

I used to have respect for him as a physicist, However sadly now, He embarks on a journey to spook land to find Darwin's missing link, Don't you just love political correctness, MY REGRETS MR. HAWKING.
