I guess at this point, it's redundant to say this is a misleading headline on a non-story. "..The Blue Green Alliance, a consortium of environmental advocates and labor unions..." In other words, major Democratic donors and allies. No balance, as usual. There is nothing, other than a liberal pipe dream, to suggest clean energy is the wave of the future. This burdensom legislation has done nothing but saddle individuals in Europe and beyond with more taxes based on unfounded environmental theory. But as long as liberal policy groups burn up newsroom faxes across the country, there will always be a lazy, lefty reporter on the other end willing to put it in a newspaper.

"Clean" energy is a nonstarter, as it cannot compete with traditional energy sources in a free market. The Dem solution - do away with the free market. Energy will cost 2-3 times more, but since when does reality ever matter to the parasites in Washington? Sherrod Brown is a complete fool - a "useful idiot" as the Soviets called their advocates in the West.

Clean energy is not a "liberal pipe dream," unless you consider the economic plans of China, Brazil, Indonesia, and Europe to also be "liberal pipe dreams." These countries (and continents) are all investing heavily in clean energy because they know that's where they'll make their money in a world that must cope with the causes and effects of climate change. The US must get on the clean energy train before it's too late. It would be a shame to end up buying our wind turbines from China when they could have been produced in Ohio's empty manufacturing plants. And this bill is expected to cost the average American just three to four dollars a month. The EPA analysis of the House clean energy bill actually found that household utility bills would end up lower under a carbon cap because of money saved through energy efficiency and conservation measures. Senator Brown is right to support this legislation because it will have great economic benefits for the state of Ohio. I encourage all readers to let Brown know that we need his vote in favor of the Senate clean energy bill.

Green Economy: Lets see, we create a law requiring Green Light bulbs that no one in the US will make because of the hazards associated with the Mercury in them. I thought mercury was really BAD!!! Then we build windmills that require more nasty stuff in them that can't be economically be manufactured in the US because of the hazardous materials in them and the requirements of our EPA. Yep - Your right Senator the Green Economy will make jobs, it just won't be in the US.

TtR: We build plenty of wind turbines in the US. GE is one of the largest wind manufaturers in the world... And we are beginning to see the positive impact this new energy market is having. Check out the experience of Newton, Iowa. Its a town that almost died when Maytag pulled their headquarters and closed a giant washing machine factory. Instead, they courted a wind turbine blade company and the town is thriving: http://switchboard.nrdc.org/blogs/hhenderson/...

Why is Socialist Progressive Brown looking for ways to back the climate bill, he already backs it, he is just looking for a reason that might make it seem like a good idea. The bill will provide alot of tax money for DC. Socialist Progressives love new ways to tax.

This is great. The green energy economy will mean new jobs for many Ohioans while we transition away from king coal and its harmful effects on the environment and our health.
Although the cap and trade bill doesn't go far enough. It gives 80% of the allowances away for free. Utilities do not have a right to pollute.

Founded on "unfounded environmental theory?" Try based on the clear consensus of the National Academy of Sciences, the science academies of every leading nation in the world, the hundreds of real experts involved in the four IPCC reports, the American Meteorological Society, NASA climate scientist James Hansen.... I could go on at length. This denier stuff is stupid. Stop repeating dumb lies. I'm part of the Blue Green Alliance and damn proud to stand with my union and environmental colleagues.
