WAY TO GO, MID RIVERS MALL MANAGEMENT. WE, IN NORTH COUNTY, HAVE SUFFERED AT THE HANDS OF DISRESPECTFUL HOULIGANS WHO HAVE RUINED NORTHLAND, NORTHWEST PLAZA, JAMESTOWN MALL, GALLERIA AND HAZELWOOD MILLS MALL. MOST OF THESE MALLS ARE NOW TOTALLY DEFUNCT,OR, ON THEIR WAY OUT. SHOOT OUTS IN NORTHWEST PLAZA, CAR THEFTS, HOMICIDE. THAT DID IT FOR ME. I AM SO NOT A MALL PERSON ANY MORE AND APRECIATE MORE THE OPEN STRIP MALLS OR STAND ALONE SINGLE STORES. UNTIL SECURITY IS RESTORED, RULES ENFORCED, AND HOULIGANS REMOVED, MALLS WILL CONTINUE TO SUFFER LACK OF BUSINESS. SAD, BUT TRUE.

I am happy to hear this, personally. I don't go there much anymore but when I lived out there, I did. I'll agree with the article that I didn't come across any "bad" kids but there were so many that were down right obnoxious and made it a miserable place to be at times. I hope this will help at least a little. It is nice to know that the mall is being proactive about the problem. It isn't just Mid Rivers though... this is a problem in almost every mall. I hope this marks a trend and other malls will follow suit.

It's about time. Older people such as myself, quit going to these malls because of these ruthless thugs. The language is horrible and getting to your car at night is an adventure. I would have began the curfew at 300 pm instead of 6. They ruin everything they come in contact with. Another mall on the way out.

thugs? houligans? Naw i think that we're just kids hanging out. I think that the policy isnt rite. The weekend is the only time we have for shopping, with school during the week. I also think that it is bad because i feel that teens shop the most. Everybody wants to talk about how bad the economy is but excluding teens from shopping sure doesnt help.

I have to agree partly with what you have to say, Most stores at the mall rely on teenagers for a major part of their income.

I am thrilled....some groups of kids almost look like freak shows and some look like they come in from the inner city. It gets to the point I don't feel comfortable shopping at Mid Rivers on a Saturday night. This was a much needed change. In addition, these kids just hang out, they do not purchase big ticket items like adults and families. Glad they are being asked to be escorted by adults finally.

midrivers mall does not have those problems you talk about at all. this is white mall unlike the rest you name . you guys are wrong for this . you are taking aways from the kids having any where to go & do anything . this instead makes kids having a better chance in getting trouble because they have nothing to do..this is coming 32 year old man. it sounds like the grown ups are being greedy asswholes. the are 100% wrong for this.

Stena, then its up to you and your friends to change our minds! You need to look around to see just what we are talking about. What we see are hooligans & thugs. Most of us don't want to be bombarded by foul language and loud booming music or harassed while doing our shopping. We donít want our young kids listening to all the vulgar words coming from your mouths.
So I put it back to you to get the word out to your friends that only you can turn things around. Clean up your act and just maybe the rules will change back in your favor.

I worked in retail for 18 years and 4 different malls before getting out it completely. Anyone who thinks this is a bad idea must not have ever worked in a mall. I think every mall should have this policy for the following reasons...
-The employess of the mall are NOT babysitters. Parents drop their kids off and have no clue of the distruptions some of these kids can cause. They leave their "little darlings" unsupervised and think everything is ok. WRONG!
-One of the malls in this area was "rumored" to be running a prostitute ring using teens.
-Then there is the issue of child safety. How many teens go missing every year because of some stranger they meet when they are away from their parents? Then when it does happen the parents want to blame the mall for having poor security!
-This is all happening right under your noses, these kids are out of control mostly due to the parents not caring and not teaching their children manners."My child would NEVER do anything like that". How many times did I hear that.Follow your kids one day when they are not looking and see what they are really up to!
It is a shame a group of kids can ruin it for the ones who are actually well mannered and taught respect/manners by their parents.

I am a GROWNUP, something you need to do. A MALL is not a playground. Stay home and do your homework. LEARN TO S P E L L .

If teens have nothing to do, they need to get a job.

When will the Ubangis learn that they have to behave and conform to society. Maybe instead of causing so much trouble, they could behave and get a job. Oh wait, that's asking too much.

I am an adult and feel it is a tough time for kids between 14 and 18. When I was younger there was always a place that we could go and hang out on the weekend but young kids do not have that anymore. Calling them thugs and houligans is alittle strong but there are a lot of kids that are disrespectable to people around them and they are the ones ruining it for the good ones.
I am kind of sad to see it happen, and as a foot note I never dropped my kids off at the mall. Either my wife and I were always with them.

Hangin out at the Mall with all your friends when I was kid and spending your allowance on the weekend was a way of life. Of course there were no gun battles or knife fights back then either....Most kids were more responsible and had jobs around the house or part time work at the mall.....I don't blame the kids i blame the parents there and lack of...Too many single parents..
