Did all of the Krieger's closed? They had so many locations so what happened? I looked online at their site but it is not running.

Does anybody have the rundown?

I know the one in St.Charles/St.Peters is closed as well as the one in Arnold. Not sure what happened. Which one did you go to?

It doesn't surprise me. Applebees, Fridays, Ruby Tuesdays, and Houlihans. You can only have so many American-cuisine casual restaurants. They're all the same; good appetizers, fair entrees, noisy bars, and too many sports screens. Adios.

Krieger's in Chesterfield and Big Bend are still running. We take our family to both locations and they seem to be doing very well...always great food and good service.

Since it was more or less a sports bars with the TV's maybe the no smoking laws sent all the beer drinkers away. HEY...Less drunks driving around and more people breathing clean air while they eat.

You're right. We need more sports bars like we need highway closures.

So the owner of Krieger, Brian Krieger, has left town and is opening a new place called Stone Wolf in Mt. Vernon in Illinois.

Apparently, it is a casual steakhouse.

I wonder if they know about the Krieger connection.

to all of you slamming sports bars, you might need to know what you are talking about before you start bashing Kriegers... Their food is absolutely wonderful. Some of the best fries in the city. Their sandwiches will put ruby tuesdays to shame.. never had anything on the menuu I didn't like. As for the no smoking, Missouri is like the last state to enforce smoking laws. You don't see bars anywhere else hurting because of it. I mean, it is kinda nice to go into a bar and not come out with burning eyes.

I do agree with the smoking part of your post but as far as the food goes I thought it was about average.

Krieger's Chesterfield is under new ownership and has some great new happy hour and late night specials. Glad to see it open and doing well. Also The big bend location is open and doing well too.

There is a Krieger's and a Stonewolf in the same building in Mt. Vernon. They are in the Holiday Inn. It is a casual steakhouse and it is really good. My family and I are regulars of both resteraunts.

The other 2 owners are cousins. They both lost their houses in preforeclosure/foreclosure. They were living in LaLa Land, driving expensive cars and living in McMansions, acting all snooty like they are better than everyone else.
Don't spend more than you make people! And be humble.
Why were they even brought along in the first place? I don't think the location on Oakland Ave. stayed open one year. What were they thinking?
I have no restaurant experience, but even I know that the days of the family-of-four spending $50 for chicken-finger and quarter-pound burger entrees are drawing to a close. The economy can no longer sustain it.
Customers would wait outside for tables on weeknights when property values soared. They could pay for everything with plastic and then refinance their home equity loans yearly. Check out the weeknight parking lots of once-robust restaurants now. In some cases, you wonder if they're even open. Their "salad days" are over. And all the while, McDonalds quartly sales increase thanks to their value menu.

We should look at ourselves before we judge others. I don't know the owners, they were probably trying to make a living like everyone else in this sad economy. Well I'll continue going to the Chesterfield and Big Bend location. Great fries!!!!
