My question is simple. why the hell Internet chat forum is so facinated about war? |

But neither you, Bush, or Obama is Jesus. Your God and Bush's God are one and the same. I think you have neo-con tendencies, since you quote scripture. Very, very much like those stories about Bush. |

I think you're wrong, arb. White Collar Crime is a Christian liberal. We don't know how he feels about sex, one of the few areas of contemporary political dialogue where Jesus would have sided with Republicans and "neo-cons." Keep in mind that a "neo-con" is just a "Jewish-con." An "old-con" hates Jews, an example of which is Pat Buchanan. Also Nazis, Aryan Nations, and Stormfront members. I have a feeling that other than the Jewish neo-cons, most "cons" are of the old-school variety, and feel bad that Hitler didn't "get 'em all." About Christian liberals. Actually they are among the more coherent posters on TWINO. Christian liberals like WCC are not atheistic Darwinists. Most Republicans are indeed Darwinists, but they strangely claim to be Christian. Jesus' message, if there was any message at all, is that humans have the power to rise above Darwinism. Capitalism is economic Darwinism, plain and simple. White Collar Crime rejects economic Darwinism among human beings, and not just because Jesus told us to reject economic Darwinism. White Collar Crime has a true appreciation for human life, in ALL ITS FORMS, including humans different than us, poor humans living in squalor on the outskirts of South American metropolises in cardboard shantytowns right off the "Save The Children" videos. White Collar Crime does not believe that he is better, intrinsically or otherwise, than those poor souls residing in third-world nations across the globe. He believes the message of Jesus that everyone is really the same, all humans, in the eyes of God. Jesus' message goes on to state that it is the Devil, Satan, Lucifer, who would have some humans set themselves above other humans. Sound familiar? It is the standard Republican party line, "We're better than them," and in today's case "them" includes African-Americans, Hispanics, gays and lesbians, the poor, the disabled, the blind, the sick, the old. Maybe to you, people who don't read capitalist propaganda like Business Week. So in conclusion, White Collar Crime presents a coherent, clear-eyed liberal Christian image on this forum, at least to me. White Collar Crime is proud of his liberality as well as his Christianity. Now if only others who post here, including you, would come out of the fog, mist, and haze, and declare their political and human-interest positions. We have a lot of lying "independents" here on TWINO who are Republicans if ever there were any. It is hard to imagine anyone like you, arb, reading that business/capitalist propaganda/lies all day and not being affected by it. Maybe if you were a sociology professor, a specialist in political sociology or the sociology of work, trying to develop a perspective on business propaganda, you could get away with claiming it was not affecting you negatively. But I doubt seriously you are a college professor. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. White Collar Crime, let them all know, and feel guilty about, being Darwinists. |

I guess all of the nearly 5000 nuclear weapons the United States has ready to launch have already been built, the profits already made, already paid into the Republican defense contractors' accounts.
I thought 5000 or so hydrogen bombs was enough to protect America. But there is no more profit going to Republican defense contractors. So we need new defense projects. Not new weapons, per se, but new "defensive systems" that cost about as much as an entirely new weapon system. I am just about to give up and gather up all of my money and just send it to a rich Republican family that owns some defense plants, to get it over with. Are you ready to send your money to some rich Republican families that own some defense plants? |

"Sigh." Crusty, Iranians are Persians, not Arabs. Please. Israel would be kicking over the bucket of petrol it's standing in and then lighting a cigar with a naked flame if it tries a military option, and the fallout (figuratively..) would draw us all into an open conflict. Fancy some Armageddon with those lobsters ? |

Yes, the little known Christian Left. Let's take a look, you may have something there, even though quoting scripture is different in a forum than in the Oval Office. Early antagonism between the left and Christianity For much of the early history of anti-establishment leftist movements such as socialism and communism (which was highly anti-clerical in the 19th century), established churches were led by a reactionary clergy who saw progress as a threat to their status and power. Most people viewed the church as part of the establishment. Revolutions in America, France, Russia and (much later) Spain were in part directed against the established churches (or rather their leading clergy) and instituted a separation of church and state. However, in the 19th century, some writers and activists developed a school of thought, Christian socialism, a branch of Christian thought that was infused with socialism. Early socialist thinkers such as Robert Owen, Charles Fourier, and the Duc de Saint-Simon based their theories of socialism upon Christian principles. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels reacted against these theories by formulating a secular theory of socialism in The Communist Manifesto. [edit]Alliance of the left and Christianity Starting in the late 19th century and early 20th century, some began to take on the view that "genuine" Christianity had much in common with a Leftist perspective. From St. Augustine of Hippo's City of God through St. Thomas More's Utopia major Christian writers had expounded upon views that socialists found agreeable. Of major interest was the extremely strong thread of egalitarianism in the New Testament. Other common leftist concerns such as pacifism, social justice, racial equality, human rights, and the rejection of excessive wealth are also expressed strongly in the Bible. In the late 19th century, the Social Gospel movement arose (particularly among some Anglicans, Lutherans, Methodists and Baptists in North America and Britain,) which attempted to integrate progressive and socialist thought with Christianity to produce a faith-based social activism, promoted by movements such as Christian Socialism. Later, in the 20th century, the theology of liberation and Creation Spirituality was championed by such writers as Gustavo Gutierrez and Matthew Fox. |

Christian left and campaigns for peace and human rights See also: Peace churches Some Christian groups were closely associated with the peace movements against the Vietnam War as well as the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. Religious leaders in many countries have also been on the forefront of criticizing any cuts to social welfare programs. In addition, many prominent civil rights activists (such as Martin Luther King, Jr.) were religious figures. Christian left in the United States In the United States, members of the Christian Left come from a spectrum of denominations: Peace churches, elements of the Protestant mainline churches, elements of Catholicism, and some parts of the Evangelicalism. The Christian Left does not seem to be so well-organized or publicized as its right-wing counterparts. Opponents state that this is because it is less numerous. Supporters contend that it is actually more numerous but composed predominantly of persons less willing to voice political views in as forceful a manner as the Christian Right, possibly because of the aggressiveness of the Christian Right. Further, supporters contend that the Christian Left has had relatively little success securing widespread corporate, political, and major media patronage compared to the Right. In the aftermath of the 2004 election in the United States Progressive Christian leaders started to form groups of their own to combat the Religious Right; The Center For Progressive Christianity and The Christian Alliance For Progress are two such groups that have formed to promote the cause. Members of the Christian Left who work on interfaith issues are part of building the Progressive Reconstructionist movement. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_left |
