"Sgt. Hamblin says the department isn't releasing the officer's name"

The headline implies the opposite.

If there's even one black guy in that town, he requires 24 hour surveillance.

If the police gig doesn't work out for him, I'm sure he can land another government job as an air traffic controller.

It is really unfortunate that there isn't a way to judge a post as Completely Stupid. Yours would get a ton of such judgements.

Iowa school planning student wake-up calls
Associated Press

Updated: 05/13/2011 11:52:27 AM CDT

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa - The Marshalltown School District is planning to make wake-up calls to nearly 250 Marshalltown High School students who aren't making it to school on time.

According to the Marshalltown Times-Republican, students who have been late at least five times since March will be on the list for automated calls between 6:30 a.m. and 6:45 a.m.

The message will include some morning cheer: "It's time to get up and enjoy the day."

High school dean of students Lisa Wunn says the kids often say they don't have alarms. She's hoping the wake-up calls will solve that problem.

The calls soon will start as a test to see whether they'll be continued next fall. Parents may sign up to get their children on or off the list.
