I have to wonder if anyone in Tennessee, home of education guru Lamar Alexander, really cares about their child's education. If you really put your child first and did whatever (by whatever, I mean a second and maybe a third job, like our immigrant brethren)it took to place your children in a private educational system, would it be worth it to you? It certainly was worth it to me. Federal mandates, no child left behind and a slew of other political posturing which materializes in the public view all playing out in public schools was sign enough for me.

I'm not against private schools. But there are a lot of students there that have been kicked out of public schools (I know several) and the parents had no choice but to turn to private schools. Just a thought to consider.

that all depends on whether or not you are willing to let someone else raise your kids. In order to afford private schools, I would have to work at least 2 jobs and would never see my kids. I would rather be there with them and help them to grow up instead of depending/paying on someone else to do it for me. Private schools aren't all they are cracked up to be. I went to one and the education I received was far less than the public schools in that area. If you look hard enough you can find decent public schools and still be able to raise your kids yourself instead of spending all your time working.

I have some relatives who attended private school.
The attitude of self-importance of these idiots is just not to be believed. None of the other cousins have this pompous arrogance. Makes me guess it came from the school. |

Self reliance IS an important value instilled by any decent educational system. Pompous arrogance, religious superiority, inflated sense of worth, and difficulty relating to individuals of diverse educational background remains in the purview of the specialized and/or remedial "institutions"...aga in, one MUST research before committing. I don't know of any facility here locally. |
