thune is betting the marriage issue will bring south dakotans to the polls. at stake: senate control

On Main Avenue in Brookings, S.D., a smartly dressed woman spotted John Thune, the Republican running to unseat Sen. Tom Daschle, and charged across the street, her smile beaming and her hand outstretched. "I'm with you," 62-year-old Connie Burdick told Thune. "Something's got to be done," she said, to stop the downfall of traditional values. It's the gay-marriage issue that riles Burdick, an issue that Thune is betting will knock down the Democratic Senate leader. Days before the Senate failed to advance a measure that would change the Constitution to forbid same-sex marriage--Daschle voted against it--Thune went on the attack. Barnstorming the state in a twin-prop plane, he crisscrossed South Dakota to warn that gay marriage could be looming. In a radio ad, he charged that the "institution of marriage is under attack from extremist groups," adding ominously: "They have done it in Massachusetts and they can do it here." Daschle, who has served in the Senate since 1986, opposes gay marriage, but believes that amending the Constitution is too drastic a step. more

I have had email replys from Thune recently on other matters of the state and nation, and I can honestly say I have never met anyone that is so dilussional about the status of this country and the direction it is going. Maybe if Thune and other reps of this state were to actualy listen to the suggestions and comments made by those who elected them they would see that this state is in need of help, and as long as they continue the Old world values and views this state will remain unpopulated and in dire need of help.
I wish that Thune as well would learn to do some real research on hot issues of this country and not be so chickenshit to actualy help the people!

Here are some MAJOR differences between real marriage and any sort of homosexual relationshit, especially regarding any governmental involvement:

Like it or not, marriage and family are the basic building block of American Society. No significant percent of homosexuals has "married" in ANY country that allows the contrived oxymoron and only about 1.6% of the US population claims to be GLBT anyway, so homosexual "marriage" fails on this one!

Children are the usual and natural result of real marriage. No child will EVER be born as a direct result of a homosexual relationshit, so homomarriage fails on this one, too!

Having both a mother and father in the home is one of the best statistical predictors of a child's future success in life. No homosexual relationshit can provide this.

Marriage is recognized as moral and necessary by nearly all Americans. Americans overwhelmingly reject homosexual "marriage" and most find homosexual acts to be immoral and damaging.

John Thune gets my vote! We need representatives like him who will fight to keep marriage the sacred institution it is meant to be. Marriage is a holy union and there is nothing holy about homosexuality.
