Joe Wilson's "You Lie" Outburst During Obama Speech Draws Bipartisan Criticism

Joe Wilson should not have disrespected the President, like him or hate him he's still the President. For the record, I agree with Joe Wilson, Obama is lying, but he deserves the respect of the office he holds.

I regret he apologized for it. The entire Republican side should have shouted it. But then if they shouted "LIE" everytime Obama lied during his speech, they would have been shouting "LIE" every 20 seconds or so. It was by far the deepest pile of sh*t I have ever seen.

Give the Racists, bigots enough rope and they will hang themselves. The Republican Party will never regain respect as long as they continue to elect such fools. What an embarrassment for the Conservative Party.

Just a question/statement. How is anyone even pretending that this type of behavior is acceptable. Remember when calling out Bush was "unpatriotic"?
This blatant disrespect is outrageous.... we wonder why we have the worst education rate in the world. Our country no longer has respect for anyone let alone ourselves..... its a shame, its embarassing, and I feel for the next generation. We are not and will no longer be a world powerhouse.... especially if this type of behavior continues.

It was perhaps with reasonable concern that republicans protested at the prospect of pushing democratic political agenda on students.

Thankfully this congressional speech was not broadcast to schools so our kids were not also exposed to the "role model" of civilized debate from the other side of the aisle.

In professing their legitimate concerns we also fortunate to also see the basic character of the opposition, which is losing respect faster than Obama.

It's been a week now, and I still don't know what those "tea bag" protests were about. I saw signs protesting abortion, illegal immigrants, the bank bailout and that gay guy who's going to win "American Idol." But it wasn't tax day that made them crazy; it was election day. Because that's when Republicans became what they fear most: a minority.

If you will look at my ISP on this post you will see that I am from Joe Wilson's home State of South Carolina. What it doesn't tell you is that he is also the representive for my district. Although I did not vote for the man, I just wanted to post that he does not speak for all South Carolinians. His outburst last night has embarrassed us to no end. We finally get some of the furor over dumb Mark Sanford hushed just a little and this idiot pops off like a complete fool and once again has given the Country and perhaps the entire world the impression that there is no intelligent life in South Carolina. There is nothing we can say or do to rectify what this nut did last night, except to say he is an inidvidual with serious issues and he does not speak for all South Carolinians. Once again, whether you agree or disagree with The President's agenda, you just don't disrespect the office like that stupid Joe Wilson. There are many good, intelligent, hard working people here in South Carolina with good intentions and good lives and great families, I only ask that you not judge us all by Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb Mark Sanford and Joe Wilson. Acorn workers illegal activities through a Balimore acorn branch! An under cover camera caught workers giving advise on how to get fraudulent loans, how to claim prositutes as dependents, and willing to set up a brothel for illegal 13 -15 year olds supposedly from honduas, the undercover said they we going to put the kids into prostitution at the house if the could help them get a loan. Acorn workers were more then willing to give advise on how to evade the law.

I was hoping this outburst did not come from an Ohio Representative. All I can say is, South Carolina Reps have really been embarrassing their state this year!

This is nonsense. Obama called people liars, who had legitimate concerns about elements of HR3200 that were clearly rationing health care and setting up death revues by bureaucrats. Yes, Obama knew about those elements because he has Health advisers, who've promoted such rationing, etc. Yes, Obama knew that Dems removed some of those elements, presumably so Obama could insult concerned citizens, 1.3 million of whom have delivered their concerns to Congress.

So, if Obama can call people "liars", it's fair to call him a liar for his subterfuge.

I don't think that Joe Wilson was the only bad boy at the event. The cameras did not show others who were also heckling the president. I noticed that he seemed to get a little rattled at certain points in his speech.

As a retired teacher, I can't condone the disrespect for the office, regardless of what the opinion of the man is. Unfortunately, there have been remarks made recently which have shown blatant disrespect for those who disagree with his agenda. Genuinely concerned individuals who have crowded town meetings have been referred to as "astro-turf," mobs and Nazis.

The atmosphere of hostility has been engendered by the axing of any Republican suggestons for this health care agenda, founded upon Nancy Pelosi's triumphant "We won!" announcement after the election. Since bipartisonship has been paid only lip service, the "in crowd" is running the show and the "out crowd" is irrelevant to the business of government. One can logically expect an outburst, no matter how immature it seems.

Bipartisan criticism, fine with that.

But happy that this guy called Obama out.
