7 This blatant disrespect is outrageous.... we wonder why we have the worst education rate in the world. Our country no longer has respect for anyone let alone ourselves..... its a shame, its embarassing, and I feel for the next generation. We are not and will no longer be a world powerhouse.... especially if this type of behavior continues. |

7 Thankfully this congressional speech was not broadcast to schools so our kids were not also exposed to the "role model" of civilized debate from the other side of the aisle. In professing their legitimate concerns we also fortunate to also see the basic character of the opposition, which is losing respect faster than Obama. |

7 June 8, 2004 / http://tinyurl.com/558r6l Excuse me if I don’t shed any tears over the passing of former President Ronald Reagan. While the news of the 40th president’s death brought on a flood of sentimentality over the nation’s media this past weekend, I could not help but recall what the Reagan presidency really meant for Black Americans. Similar to what occurred upon the death of Richard Nixon, amnesia has set upon journalists as they recall Reagan’s era; choosing to indulge in idol worship rather than serious reflection on the former president’s policies. http://www.blackamericatoday.com/article.cfm... Ronald Reagan: The Great White Redeemer http://tinyurl.com/6jljhm / June 10 2004 Only 12 years elapsed between the glorious military victory over the Confederate Slave States in 1865 and the definitive defeat of Reconstruction in 1877. In many important respects, the Reconstruction period was even briefer than that. By 1870, when the last of the southern states ratified the 15th Amendment to the Constitution, Tennessee had already rejected biracial democracy and installed an all-white “Redeemer” government.“Redemption” then swept through Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. http://www.blackcommentator.com/94/94_cover_r... Reagan's heart of darkness June 9, 2004 / http://tinyurl.com/28ytj PRESIDENT Bush proclaimed: "Ronald Reagan believed that God takes the side of justice and that America has a special calling to oppose tyranny and defend freedom." In the first three days of news reports on the death of the former president, not a single major American newspaper, television station, or politician has dared to exhume this counterpoint to the Reagan's legacy: "Immoral, evil, and totally un-Christian." http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_op... |

5 Infact did not when he put the country in the deficit with a WAR that serves no purpose. I am sick of the hypocrits who do nothing but try to divide the country and those who side with this man you may want to ask who will pay for health care for those who don't have it? Republicans don't care about the poor never have just want to try and save their asseTs! Who lies any better than a Republican? A dirty one who keeps your money and then try to use scare tactics! |

5 Dec. 14, 2002 / http://tinyurl.com/d9w75 Southern Strategy: The race question has haunted Reagan and the GOP for decades The same could be said, of course, about such Republican heroes as, Barry Goldwater, Richard Nixon or George Bush the elder, all of whom used coded racial messages to lure disaffected blue collar and Southern white voters away from the Democrats. Yet it's with Reagan, who set a standard for exploiting white anger and resentment rarely seen since George Wallace stood in the schoolhouse door, that the Republican's selective memory about its race-baiting habit really stands out. http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,859... ---------- Reagan, White As Snow http://tinyurl.com/6lujee Last week, as we’ve heard, the Republican presidential candidates praised the name and heritage of Ronald Reagan 40 times during the televised Show and Tell at the Reagan Presidential Library. That none of them mentioned Reagan’s legacy of white supremacy and support for apartheid is a little like invoking Jefferson Davis and not mentioning treason or slavery. Actually, a lot like it. Ronald Reagan was a white supremacist to his very core, and left enough traces over his lengthy political career so that it’s evident for anyone who cares to look—which apparently few do. Domestically, he opposed every legislative remedy for African Americans, betraying a meanness of spirit and an open racism. As Sidney Blumenthal wrote in The Guardian in 2003:/ http://www.tompaine.com/articles/2007/05/08/r... |

4 NEWT GINGRICH AND DICK ARMY! Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 Bill Clinton and the Republicans did away with oversight. President Bill Clinton signed this into law with 54 Republicans voting yes and 44 Democrats voting no./ http://tinyurl.com/5lwv6z http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_ca... ========== The Real Boston Tea Party was an Anti-Corporate Revolt CNBC Correspondent Rick Santelli called for a "Chicago Tea Party" on Feb 19th in protesting President Obama's plan to help homeowners in trouble. Santelli's call was answered by the right-wing group FreedomWorks, which funds campaigns promoting big business interests, and is the opposite of what the real Boston Tea Party was. FreedomWorks was funded in 2004 by Dick Armey (former Republican House Majority leader & lobbyist); consolidated Citizens for a Sound Economy, funded by the Koch family; and Empower America, a lobbying firm, that had fought against healthcare and minimum-wage efforts while hailing deregulation. Anti-tax "tea party" organizers are delivering one million tea bags to a Washington, D.C., park Wednesday morning - to promote protests across the country by people they say are fed up with high taxes and excess spending. The real Boston Tea Party was a protest against huge corporate tax cuts for the British East India Company, the largest trans-national corporation then in existence. This corporate tax cut threatened to decimate small Colonial businesses by helping the BEIC pull a Wal-Mart against small entrepreneurial tea shops, and individuals began a revolt that kicked-off a series of events that ended in the creation of The United States of America. http://www.commondreams.org/view/2009/04/15-1... ---------- The GOP: divorced from reality The Republican base is behaving like a guy who just got dumped by his wife. By Bill Maher April 24, 2009 / http://tinyurl.com/deq7bc If conservatives don't want to be seen as bitter people who cling to their guns and religion and anti-immigrant sentiments, they should stop being bitter and clinging to their guns, religion and anti-immigrant sentiments. It's been a week now, and I still don't know what those "tea bag" protests were about. I saw signs protesting abortion, illegal immigrants, the bank bailout and that gay guy who's going to win "American Idol." But it wasn't tax day that made them crazy; it was election day. Because that's when Republicans became what they fear most: a minority. http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-mah... |

2 Lol! I love how the liberal loons keep trying their little Saul Alinsky tactics,(which they have to do, since they have absolutely nothing of merit to stand on) even though it's been exposed and is well known by now. Nice try, and you're the one who should be embarrassed. Didn't you get the memo from your DNC operatives? The jig is up! The radical left is done! |

1 As a retired teacher, I can't condone the disrespect for the office, regardless of what the opinion of the man is. Unfortunately, there have been remarks made recently which have shown blatant disrespect for those who disagree with his agenda. Genuinely concerned individuals who have crowded town meetings have been referred to as "astro-turf," mobs and Nazis. The atmosphere of hostility has been engendered by the axing of any Republican suggestons for this health care agenda, founded upon Nancy Pelosi's triumphant "We won!" announcement after the election. Since bipartisonship has been paid only lip service, the "in crowd" is running the show and the "out crowd" is irrelevant to the business of government. One can logically expect an outburst, no matter how immature it seems. |

1 But happy that this guy called Obama out. If you can't stand the heat, get OUT of the kitchen. Obama brought NOTHING new to the table. It's the same old Obama lie. Good for Joe Wilson! Obama hasn't brought unity, he is destroying this country. Speak out! |
