A school in Canton, Georgia banned Confederate clothing this year after black students complained. The well known black Confederate activist, H.K. Edgerton, came to Georgia and waved the Battle Flag in front of the school to protest the protesters.

I had not heard that story before. Thats great! I hope if anything is learned from this is that most people dont have issues with this or a great any other things. Its only a few and they cry foul very loudly. Its their right, so let them, but why be so thin skinned about it and give in when most people either dont want to or arent bothered by it? Let the south have their heritage, just like everyone else. I am from the south and I dont even have a confederate flag, but would get one if I thought it would help preserve my heritage. Was just in Columbian the other day to go to the museum. Seen the flag out front of the state capitol. Did not really see a reason for it being there. It should have been in the museum along with other history from our past. This is the United States of America. Not the United States of the Confederacy. I am sorry but we have a state flag on top of the state house also, I seen it with my own eyes. But in the same breath I would like to say the NAACP NEED TO BE IN THE MUSEUM ALSO.

That did not come out right. I am not sorry we have a state flag on top of the state capitol, very proud of that.

I live here in SC and could not care less. However, a compromise was reached several years back and both sides agreed it could stay on the state grounds.

So, what has changed? Nothing. The blacks just want to renig on their original agreement which really angers the white rednecks, as they are usually referred to. Even rednecks usually stand by their word and the liberal socialists just keep changing the rules as they go, continuously looking for more handouts ... thus the fascination w/ B. Obama. If he does manage to get elected, maybe they can put his face on the food stamp cards since he stated himself that he doesn't look like the other presidents on our currency. PUH LEEZE!!!!!!

Back to the flag, eveyone should just get over it. Quit being so sensitive. We have much larger issues than people getting their feelings hurt over a piece of cloth. Any of us around during the slave days? Didn't think so. Slavery was an atrocity but no of us were even alive then. They should quit acting like it was either themselves or an immediate member of their family that was sold on SC Courthouse steps.

Let's move on to more important issues, like disease, poverty, and jobs for our lovely State of SC.

the confederate flag stands as a symbol of the time that north and south (both patriotic) went to war over their stand on what they believed to be right for america! it is our history! it deserves the right to stand for all time as a reflection of attitudes at the time! sweeping periods of history of the us under the rug does not lift us up as a nation - it denegrates us as a nation!

The confederate flag is a part of history. It in no way represents "slavery" I think that this is REALLY STUPID. Why don't black people put all that effort into educating their people on how to act like human beings or how to be productive Americans, or having a job to be proud of instead of reverting to drug selling and prostitution or welfare! Geez man this subject is so old and worn out. I guess it just goes to show how ignorant they really are!!!!!
