Myrtle Beach area jobless rate gets worse in August

If you think the bikers are bad, wait till they get the casinos. I was in Las Vegas twice last year and the prostitution and trash from the gambling is awful. Wait till the bible thumpers see that. I saw the trash walk down the sidewalk by Bellagio and shove people. This happened a few times. This will be a laugh. When I was in Myrtle beach a few weeks ago, the residents said the mayor went to charleston and had meetings, but the 90 minute drive was too far so he had to spend the night. They also said he got massages. Is this true?

The job rate is bad in Vegas. The Venitian hotel laid off 400 people. You could not walk ten feet without someone trying to sell you something. The card flickers for the illegal prostition was terrible.

Legalized gambling can be a benefit to any area. It is only illegal right now because SC is too stupid to see the rewards. People gamble every day with the lottery or Bingo and various other things. Prostitutes are around anyway and there is no legal gambling yet. Prostitutes are everywhere and in every city...theat has been and will forever be, something no one will stop. If they were smart...they would legalize prostitution so that it could be regulated. People do what they want...legal or illegal. But I do think Visas should not be allowed to Mexicans or anyone until our own people all have jobs!!!!!

There is a solution to the problem!! Amongst all of my own complaining and finding fault. I am moving! While the unemployment rate and education falls at a fast pace, I cannot sit back and do nothing!! While commenting within a genre that wants to do nothing but complain, I haven't done anything about it!!!

if you are moving we hope it far from SC! as for my views! i know that im right!!as a SC and NY taxpayer i have every right to be concerned! at least i have opinions! and poss fixes for that problem! people like us dont run away and hide like you!! and the only un-educated fool here is you!! your narrow minded views suck!myrtle beach is a money maker! but it wont be if everybody stays home! if the bikers are being jackasses and cannot behave then so be it! throw out the clowns and lets get some new money in there

it only as bad has it allowed to be bad !!we have casinos here in upstate ny!and they make money!lot of money!and you dont have all of the crime and trash because it is not allowed!! it fun to go there! people from out of state go there with there money! it clean,safe,18 hole golf, it as it all.they have lots of good paying jobs!! yes myrtle need to give yes a close look!

Myrtle Beach was thriving before they let all the Southern trash from the state move in. Keep Myrtle Beach a Midwestern and Northern homeland!

I suppose you are referring to "Southern Trash" from Lousiana. I really think people like you encourage the problems.I think you need to get a life! So, go get one somewhere else! Attitudes like yours are what keeps our jails full. I guess your parole officer would happily try to transfer you to our state (don't forget to register).

it might work up there but for it to work the cops would have to enforce the laws. that was the problem down here with the bikers here. the cops didn't enforce the laws we had so the council come up with new one. and they still would have to get state law changed.

You ask for suggestions? Have you stopped to consider the fact that the mother is having to supporting the child whether there is money or not. When you become a parent (mother & father), separated or not, responsibility to the child who didn't ask to be brought into this world, does not end when a person loses a job. Perhaps there is a reason the mother has gotten to the point that she is frustrated enough to honestly tell the kid that the father is a deadbeat. He's bipolar, so he needs to be on disability. It seems that just about everyone I meet these days who has someone close to them who doesn't have their life completely together, claims they have to be bipolar. Thirty years ago, there was never an issue with bipolar. You asked for advice. Perhaps you are living in denial. Why are you bickering about "having to" help him support this child. It's his responsibility; but you don't have to make it yours. If you choose to do it, then don't bicker about it. It's only right that he find a way to help the mother support the child he was 50% of the responsibility of creating.

What is the point in setting up gambling casinos when the motels are only 20% booked, compared to the typical 80% before the recession. Most of the prostitutes on the streets in Myrtle Beach are turning tricks for drugs, not trying to feed and shelter themselves. While they are strung out on crack, they don't eat much and have little regard for what flop pad they sleep in. You can drive down Flagg Street in Myrtle Bch between 1 and 4 am and see plenty of girls roaming the streets (particularly Russian), looking to tricks for crack. Perhaps alot of this stemmed from the sex trafficing industry, since the strip clubs business have gone down hill like everything else in Myrtle Bch. Gambling machines? All the parents who are court ordered to pay child support can waste their paychecks into a slot machine and then there's more burden on the state to help the custodial parent with the welfare of the child. Great idea!

Based on an average traffic citation during Bike Week, the amount of tickets which were reported to have been issued, they want to ban Bike Week, all the revenue it generates, along with about a half million dollars to the city revenue for traffic citations.

Being a native from the Myrtle Bch tourist are, and having been in the military, stationed near New Orleans, having spent 2 decades moonlighting in the food and beverage, I can attest that people from Louisiana are not cheap when it comes to spending their hard earned money on dining. They are the best tippers, and I've waited on people from about everywhere you can name. Louisana residents' livelihood centers around good food. Please don't think all of us Carolinians stereotype Louisiana natives, just because of some who think within a small box.

My reference was to Oklahoma Sooner. His or her comments were ignorant. I stand by my comments. Except, I should have told the deadbeat's girlfriend she's headed no where except downhill. He needs to start supporting his kid and if he can't. He needs to go somewhere and get a job. The last I heard, the jail only pays about .75 a day. The jail will put a roof over his head. But choosing to stay with a looser is something she might as well get used to. It appears her vision is really short sighted.

You need to learn that persons with mental disabilities, like bipolar disorder, deserve to be treated with dignity and compassion just like someone who has heart disease or is paralyzed. Let's hope there are more enlightened and compassionate people than cruel and prejudiced ones in this world.

As far as bike rallies go, there will be no events if there are no vendors. These groups have had enough and only a few will ever be returning to the Grand Strand, so now all the scared and whining little old Grandmothers and their trained old men can stop crying about the tourist. What tragic event will it take before these slow minded old people wake up, get their heads out of their other ends and realize that crime is the number one problem facing the Grand Strand. It will take more than a long winding deck on the beach to attract the kind of tourism that will be needed.
