The "English is the Official Language of Oklahoma Act"

I haven't heard a lot of proper English being spoken in Sequoyah County anyway!

I, too, am part Cherokee. I am trying to learn the language so I can help my son learn it. I am of the Eastern Band.
Tribes are able to speak or print as they wish. The rest of America speaks and reads American English. I agree the language should be adopted as the official language of Oklahoma and the United States.

Yes you seem to be one of the few true natives ive met on here that wants to pass their heritage down for future generations and i applaud you. I can also see where texas kiowa is coming from to where he seems to be a true native wanting to keep his ancestors language continuing but he also seems to not like any other tribe than his.

I also agree with Silver7 that the common language should be English. There are a number of tribes in Oklahoma, and more and more spanish speaking people. I am trying to teach my sons all three languages of their heritage.

Question if English is the official language won't the name of Oklahoma have to be changed? Along with every town, city and county in the state that isn't of English origin?

Will all treaties become null and void? Will the nations be charged with a crime for teaching their/our native speach in schools? Speaking of which can the word Oklahoma be spoken or written on this bill from now on? Will I have to change my name to a English name?

And one more thing what type of English are we referring to. Early English. Middle English. Modern English? American English?

So, native people's of North America can keep their languages? Outstanding I can tell my Mexican neighbors they have nothing to fear! For they are TOO Indians of North America. Seminole/Aztec to be precise.

You know this is completely ridiculous. American English is often made up of Latin and Romantic word origins. No state or town names would be changed.
All it means is documents and signage in the state would be written in English. There is a Texas town on the Rio Grande with Spanish as it's official language. It is much cheaper for the town because the vast majority of it's citizens are Mexicans. I don't agree with a town doing that, but they did.
