He is not the only dr in claremore that takes soonercare. There is also a clinic across from the hospital. I took my son there once. Will not go back. His office is very old, and I did not feel that he had tried to update his way of practicing medicine or his office. I really can't blame the state for taking soonercare away from him. He needs to comply with the times.

The state sub-contracted to a company to oversee Soonercare? That means you have an $8 hour clerks making decisions affection people lives. You take your child to a doctor because he caught a cold at school, all you want is a pink bottle of medicine so your child will feel better. The doctors writing is illegible? What doctors writing IS legible? The doctor didn't take enough notes? Tommy has strep throat. What else do you want the doctor to write? On the surface it sounds as if the state has told this agency we have too many Soonercare doctors - we need to decrease, find a reason, doesn't have to be much - we'll sign off on it.

It's ok, because the government is always the answer to a problem. They know what's best. /sarcasm

My son has gone to Dr. Wittenberg for years. He is the only one that was able to diagnose a fiddleback spider bite when the emergency room doctor from Claremore Regional told us it was just an abscessed tooth. I am extremely upset over the state cancelling Dr. Wittenbergs contract. As far as his office being old fashioned. I would much rather go to an old fashioned doctors office than these new buildings that are so sterile that they make you uncomfortable to be in.

WOW, messy writing is definately malpractice.

But I felt that the building was dirty and they dint have the same caring as Dr. Wittenberg or his staff. He has treated my children since we moved to the area. Its really a matter of opinion on who would see who there is nothing wrong with the way he does his practice just because you dont agree. I dont agree with Dr. Sweeten but that doesnt make him wrong there are lot of people that will miss him if this is not taken care of. He is a good man and a good dr.. You say he needs to grow with the time let me ask you this are you growing with the times how about your parents or grandparents should they be punished because they are not as young as they used to be?

That is just ridiculous..what dr's handwriting is legible? My dr HAS to prescripe antibiotics by phone frequently since I have no spleen and a comprimised immune system, when I get sick, sometimes there is no room for an appt. Antibiotics are sometimes needed ASAP. As for the others...not writing enough notes..what if the patient is reviewed each month? There may not be much to write.. I feel sorry for him and his patients. Go after the drs that cause real harm...not the ones helping.

That's why they are called notes and not letters jackholes! "from claremore" needs to leave the blinders on and continue sipping her Starbucks Iced Mocha Latte EspressoChino. His office is not updated enough???? What in the *&^% does this have to do with practicing medicine?

Sounds like the State is knitpicking, big time, pray tell for one, His handwriting was illegible, HELLO, what is this??? The charts showed no record of introductory letters before he made referrals? He didn't write enough notes per visit? He should write a book! Prescribing antibiotics over the phone? Most Doctors I know of do this.

I can't read my doctor's writing either, but I don't know what I'll do when he retires. I've gone to him for 40 years and doctors nowadays don't take the time or interest in their patients that he does. If he has seen me for the same problem in the last 6 months, he will prescribe a refill over the phone. For a new problem, I have to go in. Unfortunately, there aren't many Dr. Welby's around anymore. Dr. Wittenburg sounds closerto this than many others are. If I have to go to a doctor that doesn't care about his patients, I might as well go to the ER where I'll see a doctor one time and no more.

If people want him left to practice medicine, send a barrage of e-mails to the "powers that be" complaining about their dabbling, and in behalf of him. The squeaking wheel gets the grease.

Dr. Wittenberg delivered all three of my children who's ages are 11, 8, and 7. Upon receiving a letter from the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, I immediately called them. They stated to me at that time my childrens doctor had been changed do to the fact that Dr. Wittenberg had not re-enrolled with them. I was appalled when I saw your news report and discovered he had been wrongly terminated. We hear everyday of doctors who don't do their jobs and all they receive is a slap on the wrist. Then, on the other hand, we hear of stories of great doctors losing their jobs wrongfully. I'm very upset at the way the authorities treat the great doctors because in this case is does nothing but hurt not only my children but countless others. Things need to be changed before it's too late.

Wow. I'm surprised the trial lawyers are not all over this. My understanding of due process is negligence has to be defined. There are highly specialized pediatric physicians in Tulsa that call in Antibiotics over the phone. So now with rising gas prices, we are sending sooner pediatric claremore kids to Tulsa or Miami. Families that are on sooner care are already on a fixed income. OSDH needs to open up their own clinics and monitor their own paid physicians through OSU or OU medical colleges.
