Mr_Bill wrote: <quoted text> It took quite a while for that "clinton Boom" to take effect. And it wa not the practice, or caused by truickle down. The primary cause was the return to stability of the bond markets, and President Clinton's steady communication with the American public. In fact, things were so bas after Reagan/ BushI that Cinton had to forgo his promised tax cut for the middle class (just as BushI has to go against his "read my lips" NO NEW TAXES promise.) The real reason for Clinton's economic success was his top-shelf team, meeting every chalange with a pragmatic solution (not idiology) and direct communication with the American people. Trickle down uses 'borrow and spend' to pay for government until the result of the trickle down rolls in. Unfortunately, it never does 'roll in' so we are left with huge national debts. sometimes i wonder if you read at all, there was a tech boom when Clinton was in office and the hero of the budget surplus story was the stock bubble, not President Clinton's tax or budget policies. The point of bringing it up is that economic growth is dependent on what the rich people are doing with their money. clinton raised taxes in a time of plenty don't expect Obama to get the same results.

You left out some important stats Approximately 125 million people in the united states receive a government check. Many have one way or another earned it, 2.8 million are military and dependents, 54 million are social security recipients, 11 million are federal employees, that leaves 57 million receiving a check as a gift. Nearly half the nation lives in a household where someone in the household receives a government check.

As Mitt points out he will make policy, not Ryan! Democrats, do you have any comments on Mitt's education proposals? If any of you care about policy look at his ideas at: http://www.mittromney.com/blogs/mitts-view/20...

Not entirely true. Clinton's tax policies did play a part. His little stunts were not working too well, so he finally decided to take a tip from Newt and lower capital gains taxes, and that's what led the great economy. Tax cuts combined with the technology boom is what was responsible for the economy at the time. The beginning was after the leadership change in Congress led by Newt Gingrich. A balanced budget, a projected surplus, plus a strong economy made those years profitable ones for many Americans. Like any bubble, nothing lasts forever.

This week the Akin firmly placed the pubs' feet in the mouth with his idiotic statement, which by the way, comports with the party platform. woof

Trickle down is a dead, false, disproved theory; but that is Ryan's one idea. More trickle down. And, Ryan's trickle down is just to increase the taxes paid by the suffering American middle class, while cutting the taxes of the rich. I do not wish to, and cannot subsidize very rich guys. But, that is all Ryan offers. Dr. Bill_mr! why may`editing to India-n+polite in here;-00

“So first there are programs I would eliminate. Obamacare being one of them but also various subsidy programs — the Amtrak subsidy, the PBS subsidy, the subsidy for the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities,” Romney told Fortune. He added,“Some of these things, like those endowment efforts and PBS I very much appreciate and like what they do in many cases, but I just think they have to stand on their own rather than receiving money borrowed from other countries, as our government does on their behalf.” . . . allow the dumbing down to begin! DumBama has little to run on with accomplishments, so the lib strategy is to do what they can to cut down the other side--even if it means lying about it.

Romney/Ryan 2012! don't forget the department of education, jimmy carter signed the legislation creating it in 1979. I don't see that the education since then has produced smarter students, in fact I think it is worse, what about the generations educated before 1979 were they that stupid? I think we can axe the whole department,

It must really suck to be Barack Obama knowing that the glow has worn off and he's just a few months from the end of his one term, walking away as the biggest failure in US history.
Obama makes Jimmy Carter look like a superstar.

In jail, the convicts brag about how many illegitamate kids they have. Just don't confuse them by asking them names or birthdays. How did liberals destroy the education system. GWB started No Child Left Behind which was the basis for incredible failure including test cheating by school administrators in order to keep up with outrageous standards. Like everything else George Bush did, NCLB was a dismal failure. Politicians have no business being involved in education.
