Go ahead and protest. And what do you think will happen if/when all of your efforts to stop health care reform succeed? Come back and bitch to congress again in 5 years when the completely unregulated insurance industry, who is deep into the pockets of most if not all of these legislators double or triple your health care premiums. You say that the Obama administration is trying to turn this into a socialist state! If/when health care reform fails, who will be to blame? And when the people finally figure out that it was this ultra conservative movement to blame, we WILL get a socialist state completely run by the liberals. That is just too scary a thought to comprehend.

"There has been an increased police presence around the Capitol Thursday morning, and a Capitol Police officer told POLITICO that protesters are allowed to march on the West front lawn of the Capitol, but are not allowed onto the steps of the building. "

Why is that? Don't we own that building as citizens of the US? The last time I checked, as long as I wasn't carrying a weapon, I could walk right into the capitol and speak to my representatives.

But then again, that was before the United States of Welfare was formed, and decided that what the voters wanted didn't matter anymore...

"Thousands" qualifies for what the DC Police has estimated (as of now).......3,500.

So....FOX plugs this thing for 4 days, how many millions of viewers do they have.....and they only get 3,500? Perhaps 10,000 when it's all said and done?

The equal rights march earlier this year had 85,000....and FOX didn't cover it for more than a blurb.

You watch - they'll call this a huge success.

Best scene so far....the wounded Vet protesting the Government's interference into doctor's care......never mind he's on the Government's socialist VA plan. Numbskull!

That wounded vet got injured serving his country, earned that healthcare. You sneer at the vet, and think that everyone should be covered for free. It wasn't free for the vet.

Gathering on the steps of the Capitol building would interfere with pedestrian traffic in and out of the building.

You don't have a clue partner. Vets are the reason you can speak your mind. Having seen some of the "student protests" in the 60's and 70's I can safely say the only thing the government seems to listen to anymore is protests. I think next one they have in DC I will go. Never protested in my life - felt my vote counted but it seems the politicians don't care about that anymore. By the way the first politician that wants term limitations will get my vote and support!!

I am saddened and humiliated to have Michelle Bachmann as a Rep. from Minnesota. I don’t know what world Ms. Bachmann lives in, but not everyone feels the same way as she does. Maybe she should consult her people, the ones she works for, before she causes us such embarrassment. It is easy for a person in her role to point fingers and call names when someone is trying to help the people, besides the rich. I grew up in a middle class household, I have a middle class job, and I need better health care. Is this bill going to make everything better, no, but it is a step in the right direction. Sometimes we need to turn a machine on before we know what flaws were in the design.
Ms. Bachmann is the same woman who last year more or less called Liberals terrorists and should be arrested. She wants to invoke freedom of speech now, when last year at this time she felt people just need to be quiet and do they were told by the President. Now that we have a president she didn’t want her goals have changed.
Let me ask this one question – Does health care need to be improved? Yes or No? From what I hear across the nation, almost everyone is saying yes, except for the wealthy who can afford it and the politicians who get it for free. So, why are the rest of us listening to people, who in all respect have, opinions that don’t really matter?

What exactly is wrong with the healthcare you have now? I am quite happy with the coverage I have now. I get sick, I go to the doc, and they pay the bill...exactly how it is supposed to work. No problem with my coverage.

Of course, if they won't cover your frontal lobotomy, I understand why you would be upset...

Those who oppose it do so simply because it's President Obama's plan or because they've fallen for the scare tactic of attaching scary buzz-words to it... it's "socialism" or it's "communism" doesn't scare educated people. It's a good plan that many Americans need.

First of all, the government is SUPPOSED to take care of the infrastructure of this country (fire, police, snow plows, etc) and protect us with the military. Government does not belong in Health care. Yes, we need health care reform, but not with the government (ie taxpayers) footing the bill. BTW, the governemnt should never have bailed out GM and Chrysler or came out with cash for clunkers. These acts only prop up the economy temporarily and then it will crash again. Maybe GM and Chrysler should look at what Ford is doing. While not making huge profits right now, they are staying afloat, surviving and all without governemtn bailout money.
