I still see a lot of high paying jobs posted on employment sites. Some if the sites listed in About.com 's top 10 job sites:

http://www.realmatch.com
http://www.indeed.com
http://www.simplyhired.com

Maybe besides extending benefits, which are sorely needed, Ohio should ALSO get drastic about getting some new businesses to relocate to Ohio.
BTW how's that new governor working out?

How may I reapply for Extending unemployment benefits an additional 13 weeks.

It's would be help for all of us who are now unemployment if we know information as soon as posible since economic rapidtly going down and time is very hard to find a job now.

Anyone ever think about going outside the box a little, i mean there are jobs out there, just may not be the one you want right now.

This will help a lot of people. It was very nice of the Congress & President Bush to pass this bill giving 13 weeks more. the people who are out of work really need the help.

Exactly!

I know the state isn't charging taxpayers this money, but we are still paying for it since it isn't like the fed. gov't pull smoney out of thin air.

If a person can't find a job after 6 months, they are doing something wrong, or are not as qualified as they think they are (they think too highly of themselves).

3/4 of a year to sit on your ass? That is absurd!

Plenty of jobs are available to help ease the burden while you look for a more desireable job.

They don't NEED help, they WANT help. What they NEED is to think differently about things than they used to.

DON'T JUST GIVE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION, PROVIDE TECHNOLOGICAL TRAINING. IF YOU GIVE A MAN A FISH HE EATS BUT IF YOU TEACH HIM TO FISH HE SUSTAINS HIMSELF.

People don't want that, they want the fish. They can't see past the fish in front of them, and that is what put many in their current spots to begin with.

While I agree with what you posted. I understand why some people are not working at other types of jobs.

Unemployment is paying them at or near the max of their allotment. Many jobs available are at a much lower pay scale and cannot support the bills that they ran up when making a higher salary. Also, by taking a lower pay job, it would be just over the maximum that would also allow many to receive the extra benefits, ie: Food stamps and medical assistance for the family.

FTR- I have worked at a variety of jobs for 40 years and never needed to apply for unemployment. I guess I was a fortunate one. I just wanted to put another spin to the unemployment issue

They need help to pay their bills. Employment Training Help is available through the OBES employment services branch for those who want help with job retraining. All you have to do is ask for it at the OBES on Tallmadge Avenue. The 13 weeks additional allows one to exist while you take the new training. Since manufacturing is no longer strong in Akron, Ohio, one needs to get training in a service industry like HVAC, plumbing, medical fields, etc. This training can be had at no cost for those who qualify and being on unemployment qualifies oneself for the training.
