How an embattled Marc Dann could save himself

The Republicans would be foolish to try to prolong impeachment proceedings through November.

The worst case scenario for the Republicans is that Mark Dann leaves office right after 9/24. Then they lose most of their possible benefit; no special election, and the scandal is distant memory by the November election.

So Republicans can either try to expedite the process and guarantee the special election, or gamble that they can drag it out through November. Not a very good gamble, since Dann himself could simply step down on 9/25, and the Republicans would be powerless to stop him.

Look, let's say that you are an editor for the Beacon Journal and have the authority to hire reporters. You decide this week to hire your neighbor and good friend as a reporter and provide him with a Beacon Journal company car to drive for his new job.
The problem is, five months ago you were called to the Canfield barracks of the Ohio Highway Patrol to pick up this same friend and neighbor after his arrest for drunk driving during which he blew a .149 BAC.
Two questions ---1) would you hire this friend and neighbor and allow him to drive a Beacon Journal vehicle? and 2) if you did so and the Beacon Journal ownership later found out that you had hired him with full knowledge of the recent drunk driving arrest, would they ask for your immediate resignation?

Dann should step down and be replaced with someone of integrity. Someone who has gone after Republicans and Democrats. Someone who has experience putting away violent criminals.

When you stated someone that "has gone after Republicans and Democrats", and then stated "has experience in putting away violent criminals"; I think you were being redundant.
