wde01 wrote: What do you all expect, with the fashion houses mostly run by gay dudes? What in the world do they know about a voluptous woman? They want girls who look like guys. It`s about time the fashion world sees REAL women again, not coke-addicted stick figures. I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH THIS! I have nothing against peoples "orientation" however I do agree that most of the models today don't have that "classic" feminine beauty that you used to see in the arts for centuries of what was usually intstinctly always viewed as beautiful. Of course I'm not implying that thin women are not beautiful. However, as it is true that there is such a thing as being "to round" it is also true that there is such a thing as being "too thin" (of course depending on the body type or frame of women). Fat should not be promoted either! What should ideally be promoted in my view is someone who is "proportionate" and "fit". In other words healthy!!!

Now do I believe that thin women are not beautiful? of course not! I just think that toooo thin is not aethsetically that appealing nor healthy. I mean 'cmon someone freaking died on a runway for crying out loud. wake up world!!!! obviously something is not right here with this picture??? Of course I don't agree that overweight should be viewed as "ideal" either. Women are "naturally" curvy ( even thin women). What should be promoted as aesethically pleasing is a fit, healthy, and "proportionate" woman!!! not overweight, but not stick thin. Just all around classic feminine beauty! Thank you

With reference to the below quote.... All the statistics I read indicate that obesity is a larger risk and a higher contributor to the mortality rate than any eating disorder. Obesity affects a greater proportion of society and is a larger contributing factor to the rising health care costs. In fact I think I have read that obesity is a higher cause of death than smoking (in Australia at least). Leave the skinny models alone … It’s the fat people that are costing taxpayers money and causing society problems, not the skinnies. a size 5 wrote: Those models set the standard for today's youth. Is it any wonder that the incidence if eating disorders is skyrocketing among teenage girls? Is it any wonder that they are skipping lunch or starving themselves in the pursuit of the "perfect body" ? It is absolutely sickening how skinny some of these girls are. I am glad to see someone put their foot down. Now somebody PLEASE hand these twigs a sandwich - heavy on the mayo!

If liking girls with undeveloped, boyish bodies is your thing, then so be it. Just don`t knock on those of us who like women with real figures.

The main reason that fashion design models are very thin, is because all of the different styles of close fit on them well. The close hang looser and move less when they walk down the ramp.
Girls that must starve themselves to look skinny are unhealthy. Otherwise, anorexia and other eating disorders are relatively rare compared to the 60-million US women that are considered significantly overweight.

fyi...it was time for change most definatly, but to discriminate against a naturally thin pettite person is hurtful too. everyone assumes its sooo easy(and sadly expect us to explain that it is) truthfully its not... ive had 2 children eat 2000 calories @ least daily and @ 5 foot seven i am 105. now i dont need/want any "yeahs for you". im constantly being told to eat more by total stangers. intrusive much? or, now i love this one, im asked if i do drugs! there is another side to this that sadly due to starving models/actresses teen ect...is less often heard. does ones own self image always have to neglect the fact that these are diseases? or that the few that remain thin and healthy actually DONT enjoy the fact of boyish curves, padded bras for minimal coverage, harassment of diet and comments of insecure people w/low self esteem? its wrong to make fun of the morbid obese right? RIGHT! i say we all embrace ourselves and do what we can w/what we have!

Oh and by the way "dot" your from Montana and that thin. Maybe you should have your thyroid checked out. Or go to GNC and purchase a weight gain product so you dont walk around to sickly thin. Then, people wont ask you rude comments. Sorry no sympathy here!
