It takes three to tango in Albany and in the case of the recently floated proposal for a gas tax holiday this summer, there is only one dancer.

JABBERWONK GAS TAX HOLIDAY CALCULATOR

John McCain and Hillary Clinton have suggested suspending Federal Taxes on all Gasoline/Diesel sold between Memorial Day (5/26) and Labor Day (9/1) this year.
According to state highway officials and an article in the New York Times, this "Gas Tax Holiday" will lower tax revenue by roughly $9 billion and potentially cost 300,000 highway construction jobs. The highway trust fund that the gas tax finances provides money to states and local governments to pay for road and bridge construction, repair and maintenance.

I wrote a quickie calculator to show the fallacy of the gas tax "Holiday" suggested by McCain and Clinton.
I'll save $11.40 - not even enough for a case of beer.
Sad.

Shame on me to help a democrat but Sheldon Silver is right on this one Our Oil boys in Washington really hurt us good on this one. They just thought they were helping their oil company buddies out. Well they did to the tune of umpteen billions in profit. All at our expense. Upstate here is not much different than in the city we're getting clobbered every fill up. I'm a small businessman and there went any chance of me getting anything extra for my family. If The DC politicians and the Albany politicians give us a holiday on Taxes the oil companies will just use that as extra profit in their coffers. We're already used to paying their price. Why not continue. We don't need the money to buy food we need to buy their gasoline. Har de har ha. They figure their prices are just like taxes they can go up but they're harder than heck to reduce the price of. Maybe we should all go solar and show these guys. Or better yet I have a large farm up here near me. Methane anyone? Wish all you folks good Luck as we're all going to need it this summer. Take what you can when you can. Besides this holiday won't do any good anyway. It's all a gimmick for us to be satisfied with the incumbents in office now. Buying our vote. Cause whose going to be paying for this holiday. US! Paterson was right on (a democrat) Later on we're going to have to pay for our folly, Oh I meant our holiday on taxes. Did I hear another bridge collapse. I better change parties before there is nothing left of our country, from MY PARTY running it into the negative ink (ground)( soon to be a democrat)

Sheldon Silver and the other Democrats are doing everything in their power to keep YOUR MONEY in the government's pocket INSTEAD OF YOURS! I am a lifelong democrat and I am ashamed of this party blocking this bill. It used to be the Democrats were the party of the people, now they are just the party of spending hard earned tax money. We need Bipartisanship not divisive politics. This is killing the american working family!

I don't know where your from, but here on Long Island the government kickbacks to the highway construction companies are rediculous! All they do is keep repaving the perfectly good roads over and over. I think we can withold some of the kickback highway money & use the money to fill up our gas tanks.
