You must find domestic migration patterns puzzling. Year after year people born in NY, NJ and CT leave the region. They leave for places like Texas, North Carolina and Florida. There is virtually no reverse migration. I get on conference calls with people in Houston, Dallas and Charlotte and hear the speech patterns of people from Floral Park and Freeport. I never hear Texas drawls at block parties in Port Jefferson. You'd think with all of our wonderful leveling taxes, strict regulationd and mandated benefits, our commitment to public transit and refusal to build power plants, that people from all over the U.S. would be flocking here, but instead the absolute opposite is true. Very puzzling. I wonder how you'd reconcile that if you'd ever give it some thought.
